Well I certainly don't think it's yuk!I think if you can match the dark burgundy background fabric and do a narrow inner border with that, then perhaps a tone on tone in the rose pink for the outer border, it will 'tone down' and become elegant and rich looking rather than busy. It's that plain background that is creating the effect - there's a lot of contrast between that and the yellow and pale blue so it's not blending as well as it could. This is why the guidelines in the OBW book say to NOT pick plain backgrounds. But in bringing that out with the narrow border, it will give it a reason for being there, visually speaking, so it won't smack you round the face quite so much! Then in using the pink for the outer border, the yellow and blue will take a back seat and everything will blend much better. :-D

I think it's lovely. I would probably do borders in blue and the red.

I like it but I'm not sure on the rules of OBW but if it was my quilt I would put those darker browns in the upper left hand corner to separate some of the yellows and to bring out the yellows. But I never made one so I don't know what the rules are, just MHO.
