They are embroidery in a variegated pearl cotton. The designs were from a coloring book on seashells.

Thank you so much for posting this pattern, love the waves. That would have made a perfect border. If I ever repeat this pattern, I will definitely include the waves.

I also love the colors and the embroidery, especially since you made the shells your own from a coloring book! The colors on the back are also stupendous. And, like you, I think that QV's pattern would make a wonderful border!
