Very cute and a great idea!! I have a little great niece with a January 1st birthday. She will be 3 next year. This may be something fun for me to do for her. They live about 600 miles away in my hometown of Charleston, SC. Thanks for the idea!!

Love the owl on the left. Where did you find the pattern? I'd sure like to have a copy!

gimlet_2001 09-11-2014 05:10 AM

I have been a member of this board for years but, only lurked. I just have to add to this wonderful idea. The receivers can save them, you could collect them and make a year long quilt by holiday months.

carolynjo 09-11-2014 05:28 AM

What a clever idea.

Quilt4u 09-11-2014 05:35 AM

Those are so cute. I love that witch. Where did you get the pattern.

Paula Fullager 09-11-2014 05:39 AM

Those are darling. I love the witch and the cat!

Quilter 65 09-11-2014 05:39 AM

A gift that will keep on giving. How fun to stretch their anticipation and excitement throughout the year. And yes, you are very lucky to have them all. Sounds like you are very appreciative.

tweety2 09-11-2014 05:44 AM

Soooo cute! I know everyone will enjoy these gifts of the month.

They are adorable. Did you design them yourself? I did a similar idea for my Mom in assisted living. My husband made a plaque, with a 12 1/2" recessed center. I wrote "Celebrate" in a Sharpie paint pen, and put Velcro on the top and bottom of the recessed area. Each month I sent her a new wall hanging appropriate to the month, plus one for her birthday month. Many were from the Wooden Bear, but some where Nancy Halverson and others. Here is the birthday month, to give you an idea.

I love you're place mats, and what a great idea! It would work for any age, and I think kids would especially love getting a place mat for every month.

Penni: Here is the photo of the monthly wall hanging idea that you liked. Tried to send it in a PM, but it wouldn't let me for some reason. Hope it gives you an idea of what I was referring to in my earlier post. Your designs were wonderful though, so hope you can adapt them. This was Mom's Christmas gift, thus starting with January hanging.

Every month i'll send them a place mat for the next month. I want the mats to be something that will make them smile - and that will remind them i think about them every day. I'm sending them out early - with an "enrollment certificate" .....so started with October. Here's what i came up with...Thanks for looking.

That is an AWESOME idea for gifting! And I love your mats. You could do mug rugs as well. (ps - I like the little add-in of your toes in the photo

Katiedid2 09-11-2014 10:11 AM

sewvic 09-11-2014 11:34 AM

This is a great idea! Especially good for people for whom it's hard to find just the right gift. It will keep going for the whole year and they will be excited to see what's coming next. You have come up with a wonderful idea here. Happy Sewing! Thanks for sharing.....can you tell I am thinking about doing this too?

Wild8580 09-11-2014 12:31 PM

redquilter 09-11-2014 03:52 PM

They are adorable! Love them all. What a WONDERFUL idea. They will love getting a package each month and love having a meal or afternoon tea "with" you.

solstice3 09-11-2014 03:53 PM

You are blessed to have them and they to have you

MargeD 09-11-2014 04:11 PM

I think that's a fantastic, wonderful idea. I might "borrow" your idea and make placemats of the month for our DGD, she is 4 and might get a kick out of it, after all "Grandma MiMi always brings her presents!" She's definitely got my number and I wouldn't have it any other way.

ccthomas 09-11-2014 04:35 PM

Nice placemats. You are ready for October!

nannyrick 09-11-2014 05:06 PM
