"Off the Wall" finished

I designed and made this quilt over the summer. Just two pieces of fabric, it was really more of an experiment with curves. Finally got it quilted on my new Juki 2200 18" sit down machine. This is the first quilt off my machine, I wanted to start with a nice simple design that I could free motion easily. No rulers, but I did mark the quilt first.
72X44 Hobbs Tuscany 100% Wool batting Aurifil 50wt beige-tan-gold variegated thread The striped side is quilted with vertical double wavy lines, and "bubbles" inside every other wave. The mottled fabric is a close mimic to the color and faux finish in my family room. To me it looks like an old Italian Villa, so I quilted "bricks" in it. I even thread painted around the corners of the bricks to give them more definition. The back and binding are the striped fabric. Binding is cut on the bias. Thanks for looking! |
BTW ... the quilt on the wall is NOT one of mine. It's one of the "Egyptian Tent Maker" quilts that I purchased a few years ago at the AQS show in DesMoines.

I love the clever quilting! The detail on the "bricks" is phenomenal. I'm jealous of your new machine. I have NO room for one, or I would be tempted.
