So I just decided to wing it and see what happens, here are the first few little blocks done. They are nowhere near the same size, I'm not sure what went wrong, but I think when I get them all finished I can square them up and make them almost even when I get ready to put them together.

It is going to be beautiful...

Love those colors! Reminds me of Valentine's Day or cotton candy! Watch your 1/4" seams. And press after each seam. That block is tougher than it looks! I'm working on log cabins too, but my colors are not near as neat as yours! Gonna be pretty! :D

Those are gorgeous colors and I'm excited to see the completed quilt!

A 1/4" foot can make a huge difference in accuracy. If the blocks came out too big, you may be able to sneak slightli wider seams in, depending on th pattern. Also, squaring the block up after each set of light side and dark side strips lets you assure they all come out pretty close.

WOW! This is really pretty. Can't wait to see it complete.

I love log cabins! I have done several. Strip piecing is a must w/ them. Love the colors! Good Luck.

I love the pinks you're using. You know, if the blocks aren't way out of conformity in size, sometimes you can ease them together and they'll work ok. If you put the bigger block on the bottom when you sew, they may work out ok. Something about the feed dogs feeding the fabric a little faster might ease some of the disparity in size. Good luck. It's going to be a fabulous quilt!

The quilt will be lovely when you finish it. Make sure you measure the strips correctly otherwise the blocks will be different sizes. Jane

That is going to be a beautiful quilt! Very cheery.
Looking at the pictures, the two on the left look like the same size and the one on the right bigger. Is the center square on the right one the exact size as the other center square. Could be the angle of the picture but it looks a bit different which would throw off the size of the square. Also, if you do all of your squares at the same time attaching the identical size piece to the identical size of the previous strip and strip piecing as the others have said you will notice right away if you make a little oops! Have fun with it and make sure to post a picture when you have it complete. |
Sorry, I meant to type to the identical "side" not size

It's going to come together. Love the colors you chose. Can't wait to see it completed.
