Oh the JOY of passing them on!

Tonight the students in my piano studio gave their recital. I had a quilt hanging on the rail at the front of the church building we use for this. At the end the dear friend whose piano kids join mine for this recital pointed out that quilt to the audience and announced that I had made it. (We had not talked about this beforehand - she just started talking...) She then told them about the quilt I had mde for her cancer journey - she had brought it with her for all to see. Wow - didn't expect that. When she - and many in the audience - began tearing up I stepped in and announced that ... yes, I had made that quilt - the one on the rail - and it was also for a very special person - and asked the young lady I'd made it for to come forward. There was an actual GASP in the audience as I gathered it up and presented it to her. HOW FUN IS THIS?

Here's the link to the comfort quilt I made for the dear friend:

And one to the quilt the girl is holding in the photo:

I already have the fq's needed for a similar quilt for the young lady in my studio who will be a senior next year. Then there are THREE the year after that! Good thing that not everyone I start teaching as a little one is still taking lessons this many years down the road!

I look at it this way --- I'm compelled to make quilts. My husband says I'm obsessive about them. So ... if I make them they have to go somewhere, right? I get the joy of making them and sending them out into the world. The giftee gets the joy of owning them. All good!

I agree that the joy of passing the quilts on is a gift to giver and recipient.
