I use a product called Goo-Gone. It will even take out old greasy stains in shirts. I have 3 sons and we get a lot of stains and that product works.

I just now saw a segment on Simply Quilts and Alex said to use cornstarch and a toothbrush, let it sit for a day and it should be good to go!

I was watching Alex Anderson this morning and she did mention the oil stains from the sewing machine. She said to take a childs toothbrush and brush on cornstarch and let it stand for about 24 hours and it should take out the oil stain.

Great advice everyone! The Dawn dishwashing liquid worked great! I worked it in, let it sit, then took a toothbrush lightly to it. I washed it in HOT water, and then let it airdry. Came out like nothing had happened!

That is the first time I've heard about the chalk, I may try it just for the heck of it on a small piece of fabric! My 4 year old hoards chalk like it's going out of style! :D

I read just today on someone's Quilt Blog that the same thing happened to them, on white fabric, and they used Murphy's Soap, which took the machine oil/grease right out. I think it would be worth a try.
