As I stated on another thread I bought this machine at a yard sale for $2.00 but there is no cord for it.
I found a man on the internet that says he has parts for all sewing machines. I am thinking cool. I get an e-mail from him this morning that he has a cord for $34.95 plus $8.00 for shipping and handling.
So I responed and said Thank you but I don't think I want to spend that much on a $2.00 machine that may or may not work.
End of story, Nope
I get an e-mail back and he says well then you can just throw it away.
THROW IT AWAY, is the man CRAZY!!!!!!!!!???????????? I can't believe that he told me to THROW IT AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OBVIOUSLY THIS MAN KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT QUILTERS.
Even if I do decide to purchase the cord it won't be from HIM.

Some one suggested that I post what kind of cord I need here just in case someone has an extra one. I took a pic of the prongs. The model number is UHT J1414 and the serial munber is 87D 21022. It is a Montgomery Wards machine.
Thank you for allowing me to vent.

have you tried ebay, you see some crazy things on there LOL

What, he was quite the nasty individual! Be patient, you will find one! There's no way I would pay that kind of price either.
Just an idea, but check with a local sewing machine shop and ask to speak with thier repairman. Perhaps a cord could be made easily for it. He also may know who made Montgomery Ward machines and you could use a power cord from that sewing machine company. It's just a powercord!!! Powercords can't be worth $43!!!

I did a bunch of 'Googling' and found that your exact foot control is likely to be pricey, $30-ish, with shipping and all. The manual is available in lots of places for 8 to 10 bucks. It seems that would be a bit too much to spend on a two dollar machine that may or may not work.

Now for the good news. Your machine seems to have been made on the mid 70's in Japan, and they made lots of them for many companies. Many of them used the same foot control. If you find a foot control that plugs in to the machine, it's a 90% chance that it with work perfectly with your machine regardless of brand. Keep your eyes open every time you spot a box of random cords at a garage sale, look for a peddle in there.

I will be the first to say the controllers and power cords are pricey but its a small price to pay for your safety and well being.

But an another note........that is the reason that I think my Vintage Sewing Machine Parts business will take off and do great because of my beliefs and the way that I run things.

I want you to feel like your stepping back into an era that the customer comes first and you will always feel like family when you come to me. Remember when they used to give you yard sticks, tape measures, calenders and thimbles? Also getting Christmas cards in the mail every year with the calenders?

Guess what I am going to be doing.........Not only am I selling parts and service I am using an era to help promote my business. Folks have just lost touch at what makes a business successful and how to treat the customer like a person that matters.

Sorry for the vent but the guy needs to be punched in the mouth......

Billy

Thank you Billy. That fact is that if I did decide to go ahead and get the cord I won't be buying from him. He completely lost my business and I have half the mind to put his name right out here for everyone to see.
