Ever since I saw this gold fabric the other day I have been thinking about it. So even though I ran from the fabric store the other day I had to go back and get it today. I have no idea what I am going to do with it but I think it is just the prettiest gold fabric I have ever seen.

100% Cotton? That's gorgeous!

dvseals 05-20-2009 02:09 PM

Ooooooo perty I can see that going nicely with a black and a red maybe ;) ooooo or a dark blue

Ducky 05-20-2009 02:12 PM

How elegant... I like dvseals idea of dark blue -- and perhaps deep purples. Oh, the possibilities are endless!

Sounds great. The fabric is soooo much prettier in person. I like the deep blue/purple idea. They had some amazing blues there too. Ohhhh so weak!!!

Cobalt blue was my first thought too - love it!

I have a small collection of those Michael Miller Fairy Frost fabrics. I love the look of them in quilts. I used some in placemats a couple years ago and with all the repeated washings they no longer "sparkle" but still look pretty.

Very elegant fabric! I'm sure you will think of something fantastic to do with it! I love the idea of blue or purples.

Shemjo 05-20-2009 03:17 PM

I share your weakness! Fabrics call out to me, so I have to stay away from where they hang out until I clear some room for more! Trying really hard to sew with what I have and not NEED to visit those dangerous places. Alas, I MUST go pick up some rulers I ordered! Putting it off as long as I dare! :?
BTW, that is a BEAUTIFUL fabric. Does it feel as nice as it looks?

kwhite 05-20-2009 03:48 PM

It is kinda stiff right now. I am concerned to wash it since one of the ladies here said hers lost it's shine.

tlrnhi 05-20-2009 04:16 PM

kwhite...sometimes you just gotta buy it! I have alot of fabric like that. It just says...buy me....so I do! lol

That's after many washings. I wouldn't use it on placemats again or anything that will need lots of washing. It will soften up a little after a wash, but it actually stays a little stiffer than most fabrics. Maybe not a good idea for a small baby's quilt?

thimblebug6000 05-20-2009 04:45 PM

Would look super with some of the Japanese fabrics....

Justquilting 05-20-2009 04:49 PM

Very nice!! I can see so many possiblities!! I'm sure your going to do something nice with it!! Show us when you decide!

pocoellie 05-20-2009 05:06 PM

I know what you should do with it, send it to me, it would go perfect with my oriental quilt.LOL

MollieSue 05-20-2009 05:45 PM

If that was a prerequisite, I'd have room in my fabric closets. lol

gcathie 05-21-2009 12:45 AM

Ought oh you got the Fabric Flu.......take two fat quarters and call a friend......:-)

Quilt4u 05-21-2009 01:42 AM

Love it. I can see why you went back for it. Yes blue and purple would go with it.

reneebobby 05-21-2009 02:08 AM

Very pretty I see why you went back also. But you know what it is saying to me CHRISTMAS table runner.

susiequilt 05-21-2009 04:42 AM

How pretty!
How much of that fabric did you buy?

kwhite 05-21-2009 05:03 AM

I bought a yard. All I could think is that I would wait until the room was done before I went back then I thought it will be gone. So I couldn't help myself.

reneebobby I don't really like to sew for Christmas cause it is out for so short a time. I did make Christmas napkins last year to make some extra money and with the scraps made a wall hanging (UFO) to try my hand at applique. But I can't see myself making a whole Christmas Quilt although I have one started from 15 years ago that I kind of knew I would not finish once I began the class.

LOL gcathie I am really sick with it I am sure.

Tippy 05-21-2009 08:13 AM

OK.. looking at it from a different way....this reminds me of a wood grain... might want to look at it from that angle.....an applique?

mimee4 05-23-2009 04:20 AM

I hope you bought yards of this. You'll want to use it in many of your quilts...it calls out to you from the stash.

Boston1954 05-23-2009 08:57 AM

Yes Yes. Dark Blue would go great with that. And oh, by the way. I have bought fabric MANY times without knowing what I would use for.

Irish Heart 05-24-2009 10:02 AM

Ah, yes--that's the Fairy Frost fab --goes perfectly with Michael Miller's C. M. Barker's Periwinkle Fairies & the other Flower Fairies. I have some. Yummy :!:

Bevanger 05-24-2009 12:55 PM

it is pretty. i can't wait to see what you do with it
