Old treasure now a quilt.
 

Here is another one of the quilt tops a gal found in her mother's things, now finished so she can surround herself with a bit of her mother's love this Christmas. I added the border and hand quilted it for her. The close-up of the lavender pieces show some holes that I found in numerous pieces throughout the quilt. Does that indicate it is feed-sack fabric? What years would you estimate the fabric is from? Anyone know the name of this pattern? It is similar to a Boston Commons, but the pieces are diamond shaped.

Don't have any knowledge for you, but beautiful job in finishing it! It will indeed be a treasure.

Looks like A Trip Around the World or Boston Common's. My grandmother made me A Trip Around the World quilt out of 30's and 40's fabric which looks like yours.

Oh Golly! I love this quilt. It is gorgeous. You did a wonderful thing restoring this for her. It could have layed around and gone bad. Now it is a beauty. Good for you. That purple piece looks like almost a straight line of small holes. I can't tell you if it feed sack or not. I doubt it tho.

The little holes look like where the feedsacks, or flour sacks were sewn together. The last I can remember my grandmother buying feedsacks like that was in the early 50s. They were about a yard each. That way you knew how many sacks of a particular pattern to make the dress you wanted! They had smaller pieces of fabrics in 5 lb. flour sacks. I would guess it was made in the 40s or early 50s.
