I have been studying mitered borders and thought I would not be able to do it. Well, I finally tried it today and it worked. Now if I could only master bindings I would be a truly happy camper.

Yeah! Love learning new things!

wolfkitty 09-16-2010 04:56 PM

I'm with you - I need to learn bindings, too. Congrats on learning something new!

Look through the tutorial section here for some really easy binding tips and methods! Good job on the border!

I smiled when i saw this posting.. I too had a hard time with this one.. My daughter even bought me a tool to use to help me with my diagonal...It still took months.. I have now conquered it and am struggling with other obstacles. lol

Your border looks wonderful. Much better than any I do. Great job.

Woohoo! Now can you teach me? ;)

franie 09-16-2010 06:19 PM

They are fun aren't they? And binding will come easy too after the first one or two.

mollymct 09-16-2010 06:19 PM

Great job with the miters!! Yay! I'm about to tackle binding...ugh.

dublb 09-16-2010 07:50 PM

Impressive!

Ditter43 09-16-2010 07:54 PM

See, that wasn't as hard as you thought! The binding isn't either. Just take your time and don't try for perfection. It's a quilt, not the MonaLisa after all!! :D

seriously, Kitsie's tutorial is great for someone who s unsure...I used to use heather bailey's tutorial but the finishing with Kitsie's makes more sense and is no fail!

There is also another tute on here that shows you how to use the ladder stitchto attach the binding to the back of your quilt...i'll check for links. I just finished my latest project last night and stitching the binding to the back went so much faster and looks smoother with the ladder stitch technique...

this is heather bailey's binding tute for more visual....Kitsie's ending instructions are much clearer and fool-proof!!

great job!

grammyp 09-17-2010 07:12 AM

Nice, I have yet to accomplish one. I can miter my binding now, but it did take me a while.

Kyiav10 09-17-2010 07:20 AM

Great job! That is one thing I haven't tried yet and I hope my first attempt comes out as nicely as yours!

I remember my first successful miter too! It makes you want to do a happy dance and tell everyone you know. Good job.
