Don't let the complexity scare you away. If you follow the instructions that come with the pattern, you should not have a problem. I have made many of her patterns, never having a problem. I was intimidated at first also, now I am hooked and look forward to each new pattern she comes out with. Get out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself, you won't be sorry.

I made Judy's "Crown of Thorns" and yes all that she gives you is worth the money if you like doing these sort of projects. I love doing them. I'm going to do the Agave Garden Pattern in 2011. Once you get in a rhythm of making the blocks, for me anyway, it's calming. The biggest obstacle is the fabric usage, but if its something I want bad enough I figure out how to get it, without going into debt of course and doing without the basics. I can say this at this time because my children are grown and more of the income my DH and I have can go for hobbies such as this. I love her new pattern but I can only have one Judy pattern at a time. (Mind game). If anyone starts this pattern or any Judy pattern I would love to see your progress.

I have a few issues w/Judy's patterns. She doesn't print her PP patterns on newsprint - she uses pattern tissue which is very flimsy and easily torn. She only gives you the exact number of pieces needed to make the quilt - make a mistake -oops you're screwed! And lastly - she sells a pattern with mistakes in the directions and rather than correct them you have to go online and download the corrections and try to figure out what her blue arrows mean! I have yet to start the one pattern of hers that I spent/wasted money on - she is definitely not what I wold consider a user friendly pattern maker. Her quilts however, are incredible to look at.

She must have changed, there were no errors on the Crown of Thorns and it was newpaper print paper. Of course this is an old pattern. I have another one of her's that's on the same kind of paper. It doesn't tear easliy at all until I sew the perforated stitching line. I guess she is like all other companies, making quality and quanity cuts while raising the prices. I had some pattern pieces left because I thought I had made a mistake in counting. Of course there never was a complete block of templates left but there would be say 3 or 4 of C and 2 or 3 of D, etc. I better look at her new stuff before I committ to starting one (of her newer patterns) Thanks for the heads up.

For $225 it had better be all put together for me. I could put the backing on.

You're right that is a lot of money, but if's all put together then you miss out on the fun of making it, that's what quilting is about. To make very pieced (many pieces) quilts alway cost more than the quicker quilts. That's why quilting is so versatile, regardless of your skill level or financial level there is something for everyone.

The pattern I have is actually one of her older ones - maybe she changed to better quality paper and putting in extra pieces as she became more successful. i sure hope that is the case, as $60 for just a pattern is a bit steep.

I've never given 60 for a pattern, not sure I would, but never say never. Crown of Thorns and Indian Summer were 17.00 and the Agave Garden is 25 which is steep enough.

I wouldn't consider that fun to put together.

Oh now come on, never say never. Seriously though I loved the Crown of Thorns so much and I had done a simple paper piece and fell in love with the techique so I knew I had to have the pattern. I'm going to change my avatar to it someday. I would never attempt a pattern like this without it being PP.

OK, it bit the bullet and preordered the pattern. I'm crazy anyway so what the he..
