One block quilt

My wife and daughter were out of town recently and I was tired of the WIPs that I had. I opened a book we've had for a while and decided to make something "quick" that I could start and finish while they were gone. The book is "Sew One and You're Done" by Evelyn Sloppy. I added a border to make it 60" square and used a pieced back because I was way short of the tie-dye fabric I wanted to use.
When my daughter saw it she asked, "Whose quilt is that, Daddy?" I told her that I thought I'd give it to a little girl who didn't have a quilt. She replied, "But it has pink and purple and those are my favorite colors. Can I have it?" Well, what am I going to say to that? So, here is Emmaline's new quilt. The book is full of quilts made from one huge block. I think this one measures 48" or so square, and I added the border. I used a new panto on this one, but I can't remember the name. I had plenty of the front block fabrics but was short of the backing. Thanks for looking. Darren |

I like it. If you decide to do a quilt for someone who really does not have one, an oversized friendship or sawtooth star works really well. I like to give them to local a organization for foster children, so that I know they go where they are needed. One advantage to extra large blocks is that you can use some of the larger focus fabrics.

Pink and purple-always a hit with little (and big) gals. No wonder your daughter wanted it. Great idea for quick projects. I like the idea of making them for community projects.

Well, of course I had to order that book. Thanks wesing. I love your quilt QM. Is there a pattern or did you simply enlarge one you had?

Beautiful quilt and beautiful story. I am sure your daughter will love it forever-especially because it was made by "my dad" is how she will probably tell everyone. Love your flower fabric you used.
