WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome quilt!

sewjoyce 10-19-2008 05:43 PM

Wow -- this is awesome. Which prize did it win?

Marcia 10-19-2008 06:07 PM

Both of your one block wonders are amazing!!! I saw one at the GA National Fair last week. For the life of me I cannot figure out how it is made--is it a book or a pattern?

Kyiav10 10-19-2008 06:07 PM

Great. I would love to see a pick of fabric before and then the quilt after. I want to make one and need to see what kind of fabric to use.

Marcia, it's One Block Wonder by Maxine Rosenthal. She has a new one called O.B.W. Encore that has more neat stuff to do with the blocks. It's easier than it looks. Thank you.

Janstar 10-19-2008 07:54 PM

Thank you everyone for the kind comments. Iv'e never been in a quilt show before so it was kind of nice to finally do it. Sorry to string out my pics so far but that's the only way I can load them and make it work. I have one more but it didn't go through.

gcathie 10-19-2008 08:15 PM

Love Love Love it.......I'll have to check that block out

kd124 10-19-2008 09:14 PM

Awesome!!! Love your arrangement. My sis did one of these for her daughter last year. I made a Bethany Reynolds whack and stack for my daughter. I actually liked the One Block Wonder better. I am planning on making my bbf one next year.

Izy 10-20-2008 12:48 AM

Wow Jan, this is another stunner....I have to look into this technique soon :D

Quilt4u 10-20-2008 01:45 AM

Wow--your work is so great. It is hard to believe that this is the first time you have ever entered a quilt show. You should be very proud of all your entries. They were a fabulous addition to the show. Thank you so much for sharing the pictures with us. I enjoyed them all!! :D

Thanks-I think I am going to give it a try. It looks like something fun and outside my usual comfort zone quilts.

Susan in Texas 10-20-2008 07:53 AM

Did you really make this? It is beautiful! :D

Janstar 10-20-2008 02:31 PM

Kyiav10, On both of my OBW I used a 24"return. If you go smaller it's a bunch of sewing but it still works. You need a design wall to audition them on . I numbered each row as I sewed them together and hung them on the flannel. It tells you in the book how to pin then so you can move them around to audition them before sewing them together. Hope I didn't confuse the issue.

raksmum 10-22-2008 09:33 PM

Beautiful quilt! I start a one block wonder class next week and can't wait! If mine turns out half as nice I will be happy.

Janstar 10-22-2008 09:44 PM

Good luck raksmum, You will love the class and if you are like me you'll make two in a row. They are quite addicting! Jan

Bevanger 10-23-2008 06:00 AM

I love it! :P

funcupl 04-28-2010 01:22 PM

Janstar...just a quick question...I just got the book for the One Block Wonder....can you tell me if you cut the strips the width of your template, or do you cut on the repeats only....kinda confusing to me. I can't wait to start it.

Stunning Quilt. Greens very impressive

annieshane 04-28-2010 01:38 PM

This is so far beyond my expertise! You have done a remarkable job. How long have you been "quilting"?

OkieDokie 04-28-2010 09:26 PM

How pretty! I took a class on the one block wonder and it was so much fun! I still need to put a border on mine.

How did you quilt yours??

KiwiQuilter 04-28-2010 10:19 PM

Beautiful.

rootyr 04-29-2010 01:36 AM

mjsylvstr 04-29-2010 02:58 AM

That is beautiful, Janstar........

Would love to have seen the fabric before it became the OBW......it blows my mind to see what one can do with the OBW pattern.

I was wondering if you ever got around to doing the Tech tuck pattern.....mj

DeniseB 04-29-2010 03:21 AM

Wow, breath taking. What a great quilt. Good Luck.

pocoellie 04-29-2010 04:38 AM
