I just finished a new purse for my mom, using 5" charm squares. I haven't made her one in a couple years, so figured she would enjoy a new one.

Great purse! She will love it!

EdieClay 10-30-2010 06:04 PM

What stitch did you use to connect the fabrics? It's not a zig zag or a blanket, but I'm not sure what it is. I'd like to try something like that on a sweatshirt jacket. Thanks.

That is very pretty!

Thanks! It's called "Charm Party Tote" by Penny Sturges :)

Nita 10-31-2010 04:05 AM

Love that purse/tote. I have a pattern called Chubby Charmer designed by Penny Sturges. I bought the pattern but never made the tote. It is very siminlar to yours, with 5 charms across in width by 4 charms down for height. Boxed corners. Same type handle. Pockets inside. Big difference in patterns seems to be size (this one is larger tote size) and mine does not have that cute pocket on the outside. Do you mind me asking how you made the outside pocket? The triangular "flap" really adds design to it and is the circle a covered button or just fused circle?

rootyr 10-31-2010 04:06 AM

How pretty! I have that button too!

For the outside pocket, you just use two 5" charms, cut them down to 4" x 5" and sew on the 5" side. The flap is a 5" charm cut in half diagonally and then sewn together RST. The "circle" is actually a decorative button I picked up at either Joann's or Walmart a couple years ago.

Very nice. The inside is bright, (easier to see/find things) so am sure your Mom will love it!

Nita 11-05-2010 03:33 AM

Okay, so you use 2 "identical" charms for the pocket, cutting each down to 4" X 5" and then join/piece them on the 5" edge? Is the pocket lined?
