Ok I got 2 different pieces to use for the border on my quilt. The pattern calls for the dark blue. I thought it was to dark so I picked a lighter print. I'm not to sure about it. Any in put would be great! :)

Hi Okie, great job on those blocks! I really like them. As for the border, I think its going to be a personal preference kind of thing. I prefer the darker blue as it tends to frame the quilt and makes the yellow really pop in the other border and in the centers of the wheels. Either way will look good though. Keep showing it..I can't wait to see what you decide.

KGoodhand 04-15-2009 04:41 AM

I think the darker blue makes the yellow pop as well! Either one would be nice though!

Darker

sewjoyce 04-15-2009 05:26 AM

Love your blocks. But I think I like the darker border too -- makes all the other colors really pop.

stonington 04-15-2009 05:32 AM

I love the darker blue as well. It makes the pattern "pop"

I agree, I like the blue better.

sidmona 04-15-2009 05:55 AM

my vote goes for the darker blue.

Debbie1 04-15-2009 06:13 AM

My vote for what it's worth is with the dark blue. It seems to bring out the yellow more. Love the quilt!

ButtercreamCakeArtist 04-15-2009 06:21 AM

Those are some amazing blocks. You've done a wonderful job on them! I think the dark blue looks really nice. ;)

Mamagus 04-15-2009 06:30 AM

I vote for the dark blue!!! Lovely quilt!

Joan 04-15-2009 06:32 AM

Blocks are lovely and look like they were hard.

I agree with the dark blue, the border won't be
as wide as you show in the picture, will it. Lay
it about the correct width and I think you will
like it better.

The dark blue is the best one in my opinion after that if you want the green instead I like the one on the right as a second option.

I love your blocks that is a favorite of mine. They came out well done!

sewnsewer2 04-15-2009 07:39 AM

Very pretty! I like the green better, it flows better and is easier on my eyes.

Bevanger 04-15-2009 07:42 AM

I'm not too good on the input part, but it sure is looking good so far. I know whatever you decide, it'll be the best

Stitching4Fun 04-15-2009 07:45 AM

You said the pattern called for the blue for the border, right? That doesn't mean you have to go with that though.......I like the darker blue also, and I am guessing the pattern called for that because of the blue in the blocks. If you don't like the dark blue, why not bring out the green that each block is made with and do the border with that? Would that be too much green for you?

As everyone said, it is your choice.

Beautiful blocks. I think I like the dark blue best.

BlueChicken 04-15-2009 07:36 PM

I vote for the dark blue too.... it makes the colours strong and not washed out.

It's going to look superb when it's done!

:-)

reneebobby 04-16-2009 02:27 AM

Very nice but I have to agree the dark blue sorry.

patricej 04-16-2009 02:51 AM

that's going to be faaaaaaaaaaaaabulous, dahling.

dark blue!!!!!

kluedesigns 04-16-2009 03:41 AM

i like the green border best.

barnbum 04-16-2009 03:51 AM

The green is a bit ltoo light and the blue is a bit too dark.

Will the border be narrower than what you've got showing? That width swallows it for me...

Remember--follow your eye... you're the one looking at it every day--and such a beautiful piece it is!! :D

k3n 04-16-2009 03:53 AM

LOVE those blocks - and I'm inclined to agree with Karla - dark blue but maybe not QUITE as dark as the one you have! I also think the yellow border could be a tad narrower.

How big is the outside border? You may want to consider adding another small border between the yellow and the blue(if the yellow is 2" maybe another 2" color and then a 6 or 8" depending on the size of the quilt). I really like your squares and what ever you end up doing it is going to be a very pretty quilt.

I just want to thank you for posting this, not bc I can help. I can't. I had been thinking quite a bit lately, that there is something wrong with this monitor, so I called hubby in here, and he couldn't see a difference in the two pictures either. sorry. But now we know. :D
P.S. In my minds eye, I love dark blue with yellow, that's all I got.

Harmony 04-16-2009 06:36 PM

I'll vote for the dark blue. Sets off your beautiful blocks perfectly!

azam 04-16-2009 08:57 PM

My vote is for the darker blue.

Barb M 04-16-2009 09:12 PM

bearpaw 04-17-2009 04:31 AM

I like the blue. Love the blocks!

Ninnie 04-17-2009 04:33 AM

Love the blocks! Dark Blue is my preference.

quiltingma 04-21-2009 06:12 PM

I love the blocks! I would go with the darker blue.

okie3 04-21-2009 10:17 PM

Thanks for all the input. I'm glad everyone likes my blocks, I did every one of them by hand. I had to much trouble doing them on the sewing machine. This is the first time I've done this one. I'm going with the dark blue. I still have 3 more rows of blocks to add on yet. I'll put up picture before I put it in the quilt frame. The name of the quilt is "Kentucky Wagon Wheel" and it's for my Kentucky daughter-daughter-in-law. I promised her a quilt before she and my son ever got married 11 years ago. So thought I'd better get her one done.

butterflywing 05-01-2009 04:56 PM

that is a really neat block, but i'm afraid it's not The block.

thanks for helping out.

RedGarnet222 05-01-2009 05:37 PM

I agree with bev. What ever you decide is going to be the best. I kinda like the dark blue though.
