It turned out beautiful. Your DH looks very happy with it. Relax and enjoy your efforts. After a few years you will forget how crazy it made you.
Well, that turned out beautiful!! Love the way you put it together!! Thanks for sharing
What a sweet quilt , I really do like it. I love the story it is just the type of thing I tend to do-- I always scolding myself because I set myself up and paint myself into a corner. Glad you carried on it looks worth it.
Be well |
Even though you made mistakes you came out with a beautiful quilt!!! No worry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it is a beautiful quilt. I do understand your disappointment with it being stiff. However, I think you should pat yourself on the back for all the lessons learned and your perseverance. I am thankful you shared your information with the rest of us so we can learn from your mistakes too.

What brand of printable did you use? I have made memory quilts using the Bubble Jet items to prepare cotton fabric and the Bubble Jet rinse after printing. I have also used the pretreated fabric sheets. I printed "heavy" ink pics on both for a sample, let them air dry, then soaked in water, and then in the washing machine on "delicate". Once dried in the dryer and ironed, they looked great. The pretreated fabric sheets softened. After incorporating with block in a quilt, I washing the entire quilt in delicate and dried in the dryer. The quilt was a hit and looked great. I purchase my products at http://www.cjenkinscompany.com/

I think the quilt is fantastic! Be happy with it. You;ll know next time what will make it softer.
Mistakes are a design opportunities:o! ALL my quilts have been a design opportunities!!
It is gorgeous!!!
I am wondering if you peeled the paper off the back of the fabric sheets you printed on?
Despite your problems it is a great looking quilt. |
It's beautiful!!!! I love the penguin fabric. :)
It just looks great. Can't see anything from here hard or tucked!! haha
Your quilt is great.....
What a neat quilt!!:o You did great with all your 'opportunities'. I have a dear friend who is not in the best of health and he loves penguins. You have given me an idea for a lap quilt for him. Don't have that fabric, so guess I'll have to go shopping, darn. If you make him another, be sure to post a picture.
It's great the way it is! I wouldn't soak it - just enjoy!
I don't know about the soaking but I LOVE the quilt and the look on your husband's face is wonderful! What a treasure!
I agree with your DH, leave it be. It is wonderful just the way it is. I love penguins myself, so I can place myself in his shoes screaming NOOOO, please don't!
I know someone near me who would die for that quilt. Just be cautious Some of the fabric for printing gives specific instructions to make the pictures colorfast. I didn't do it their way and lost pictures of our Pittsburgh Penguins Stanley Cup victory that I placed strategically in an art quilt for my daughter. I was crushed. Best stitches
It looks good to me and your DH looks thrilled.Love the colours
It really is a lovely quilt. . . maybe he can use it as a wall hanging in his office if it's that stiff.
I love the depth of field you've made in your photo arrangement--it gives the feeling of actually looking out the window. Stiffness isn't good in a lap quilt, but it would be a benefit in a wall hanging, so I guess you must have had a wall hanging in mind all along! I hope that's what you do with this so your beautiful design is seen in all its glory. A big, snuggly lap quilt to coordinate would finish it off nicely.
oh my word, and here I thought it was destined to be a UFO. Awesome problem solving skills. Awesome quilt. I love the panels you printed.
Congratulations on sticking this out. It's adorable and the DH looks extremely pleased.
What I see is one happy man and a beautiful..quilt. What more could you ask for????
I've done photo quilts and you can wash them but you can't put them in the dryer. The photo quilts I made were all for hanging. What I would do is hang it on the wall and make him another, lol. It's worth showing off, beautiful quilt and I love how you pieced it out.
I just did a search on Penguin fabric and there's alot to choose from. Have fun and good luck
Glad to know I am not the only one that makes mistakes :-) I love penguins too.....nice quilt.
