He looks like one happy camper...penguins and a woman who loves him to the end. I think this is what every man seeks.
My dh is a penguin fan also and he has a penguin quilt that goes with him to his numerous hospital stays. I think your hubby was a man of good taste. He chose penguins and YOU. I will say a prayer for the both of you.

I too immediately teared up seeing his radiant face and reading your post. I lost my husband four years ago. To share the power of quilts, once we moved a hospital bed into our bedroom, it was the quilt his grandmother made for him as a boy that he wanted to sleep under. Big hug and shared tears. I'm thankful to have been loved by such a wonderful man, but I still cry over losing him.

I think you had posted this quilt one other time....because I remember seeing it in another post, and admiring it. It is a beautiful quilt. I am so sorry to hear of your loss, I know you and your family are devastated. Stay strong, prayers are with you.

Now that the tears have stopped I can say from experience that we never know what we might encounter just around the corner. I loved your quilt when you first posted it, and thought your husband treasured it too, but I love it even more now....and I would imagine you do too. Deb, I am so sorry for your loss. I am so glad that you were able to finish the quilt and get such a wonderful picture of your Hubby before he passed. He looks so very pleased with the quilt -- I would print that picture on fabric and attach it to the back of the quilt as a rememberance. By the way -- the quilt is wonderful!!

It made me cry to see his happy face and think he's not with you any longer... So sorry you lost him! Now every time you look at the quilt you can remember how happy you made him. (((((Huge hug!!)))))

In January I lost my husband to Alzheimers. During his last week under Hospice care he was covered with his "security quilt" I had made it for him in 1988 when he was undergoing chemo and radiation . It was a simple blue drunkers path.
Our oldest daugher now has that quilt.

Great quilt for a happy man. My sympathy to you as I know the path you travel(just lost my DH 3/14/12)

I am so glad you were able to get his penguin quilt finished so he could enjoy it; and we can see by the look on his face how proud he was of it, and of you for making it.
