This One Needs Borders

Im on a roll since I learned how to post pictures. I wish I paid closer attention to color placement than just the method. This is my first on pointe setting. I need large borders and have no more of any of these colors. Anybody have any opinions?

Maybe you could find a stripe or floral with some of the colors that you used in the quilt. I like your placement of the colors.

Hi quilt top

drgranny 07-17-2012 05:22 PM

Buy another white on white, it won't matter if it doesn't match.

IrishNY 07-17-2012 05:29 PM

I agree with MawMaw. Pick a two or three of the colors you would like to accent and look for another fabric that has them in it. I would go with a floral or paisley, something with curves, since everything else is straight lines. Love the colors! Be sure to show what you end up doing. \

Does it really need another border? What if you ended it now and maybe used a fun colorful stripe cut on the bias for the binding?

chermitch 07-17-2012 08:02 PM

I do not like white borders so I think a gold border would look nice myself!!!!!

Love this quilt. So nice and fresh looking.

If you have any fabric left and want the extra work I would make small matching blocks or pinwheel blocks and then another green border.

I would put a skinny (1"?) black or white border, followed by a wider DARK fabric to anchor it ...

How about a stripe like this one from CT? I used it in a recent quilt & loved it. I think it would go with your top quite nicely.

find a nice floral with 3 or more of the colors for a nice wide border at least 6 inches. good luck.

this was my first thought, as well

patsynel 07-18-2012 03:32 AM

I think it is perfect as is.

I think it is perfect as is. Love the colors you chose.

I like the floral boarder idea, it would look great I think.

That is a nice top. A few years ago I won some BOM pinwheels. When I put them together I was able to find a stripe print that made a perfect border. Another option would be a pretty floral or one of the mixed color prints that look like something from a Monet painting.

I like just the way it is.

G'ma Kay 07-18-2012 04:40 PM

I would use a 4plus inch border of a large pastel print

nativetexan 07-18-2012 04:56 PM

lovely. you can find some print that has those colors and speaks to you. get shopping!!

MaryMo 07-18-2012 04:59 PM

What are you using for the backing? maybe that could give you an idea, but as others suggest, I would use a print with 2 or 3 of the colors.

rrhaigh 07-18-2012 08:02 PM

It looks nice as it is, but if you want to add another border I think a striped border with the colors from the blocks would look nice. I love your quilt.

mighty 07-20-2012 06:49 PM

I think just a fun binding would look great!!!!
