I found a 1947 singer treadle that once belonged to an Amish family they kept really good care of it. It is very clean and runs sooo smooth and came with a ton of accesorries. One of the drawers had german writing on it not sure what it means. i paid 75.00 for but I had to drive 1.5 hr to get it. I am not sure what model or anything about it so if you know please let me know thx

I am not sure which model just know its not a red eye like my other one

You have a beautiful machine there. I am sure the Amish took good care of it. I hope you can find out about the age and so forth.

Wow, what a beauty. I have 2 treadles. One I have tried using, works good but I can't get the rythm of it yet.

The other I am tearing down and refurbishing it. It was frozen solid.

Yours looks in excellent shape. I would drive that far for one!

Enjoy it and Congratulations!

If you post it on the Vintage Sewing Machine Shop on this board, they can tell you more information about it. Before posting write down the serial number and that will help!

In the mean time, you can go to the following web site for general information. http://www.singerco.com/support/serial_numbers.html

Hi,

Your machine looks like the 201K. If it is and it is a treadle it is quite rare as electricity was readily available at the time they made these and most of the models they made of the 201K were electric. If it is the 201... please do not convert it to electric.

Hugs

Caroline

PM Madquilter about the writing. I think she is from Germany and may be able to help you although this is a different German because of the Amish. Wonder why they sold it?

I think it says: Flat side of the needle against (or behind) the big shutter.

Perhaps a reminder of the correct position to insert the needle? I am not sure of the word "Klappe", probably some part of the sewing machine.

What a find! I hope to own a treadle someday! Lucky you!

If you look up the serial number (at the base of the pillar on the little brass plate). You'll see the model number and where it was made.
