purplemem 07-12-2008 01:28 PM

I would just call it "meandering".
It looks just great!

mgrhs 07-12-2008 01:39 PM

if you look at it from the bottom up.... you can call it righ hand turn.....

mgshaw 07-12-2008 01:40 PM

Dont see no goofs, only DESIGN CHOICES!!!

nor'easter 07-12-2008 01:47 PM

New pattern, the Detour Nine-Patch. Originality counts!

Sorry, but I canīt see a goof, so stop worrying about it. Think it looks real good.

Bevanger 07-12-2008 02:10 PM

I love it. If you didn't say anything, I wouldn't have noticed......

DA Mayer 07-12-2008 02:16 PM

Call it Errant nine-patch ugly fabric has a mind of its own

Moonpi 07-12-2008 02:18 PM

It's eccentric, but loveable.

jbsstrawberry 07-12-2008 02:24 PM

So where's the "ugly" fabric? LOL I still haven't seen any of it yet!! I like the whole design choice idea instead of an oops!!

Barb M 07-12-2008 02:52 PM

hmmm, call it split personalities??? lol :)

sewnsewer2 07-12-2008 02:55 PM

I don't see any ugly fabric either! The goof you could say was on purpose.

ButtercreamCakeArtist 07-12-2008 03:13 PM

OH, Patrice! It's so pretty!!!!! I don't think most people would even realize it as a mistake, but just as the design. They'd just think it was supposed to be like that! I wouldn't take it apart, either! HE99 NO! LOL!

bj 07-12-2008 03:16 PM

Have you heard of the book, "Who Moved My Cheese?'? You could call it Somebody Moved my 9-patch...I think it looks great. What ugly fabric?

nor'easter 07-12-2008 03:33 PM

That's just the intentional mistake you put in to keep it from being perfect, thus keeping you humble, right?

gcathie 07-12-2008 04:19 PM

PatriceJ...well I know what I would do and your not going to like this...yep pick it out...I have done this too...I would pick out the whole nine patch and replace it....wasn't really that hard....had to keep laughing at myself while I was picking or I would have cried....guess it's Gods way of keeping us humble :D  .... Or you could just leave it alone like everyone else suggests....there's some good suggestions in there too!

you could take off the last two rows and make a wall hanging.....

tlrnhi 07-12-2008 05:45 PM

I think it's pretty! I wouldnt have noticed if you didn't say anything!

isnthatodd 07-12-2008 05:51 PM

My first impression was that it was an op-art quilt, and it looks perfect! :!: I am of the school that says unless it is for a competition, it is done correctly.

grammo013 07-12-2008 06:31 PM

I would call it Wandering minds want to know. lol

judee0624 07-12-2008 06:48 PM

I don't see a goof...where is it? I just made this same quilt and only the fabrics look different.

judee

beachlady 07-12-2008 07:11 PM

I had to read the posts and then go back to the quilt to find the goof. It is not that noticeable. I like it and don't think the fabric is all that ugly.

ShellyQ 07-12-2008 07:36 PM

Very nice, fabrics don't look ugly at all when you're done with them :P . No way I'd take that sucker out either, plenty of great name suggestions been given to prove it was a design choice

there was a time I'd have automatically either re-engineered or tossed the whole thing in the dumpster. (can you hear all the screams and fainting? ) now, if i know i could make the whole thing over in the time it would take to make the fix, i just force myself to accept the goof and keep going.

lucky for me, i've seen quilts and patterns for sale that use a similar layout (offset, asymetrical chevrons - laaaah deee daaah, now ain't we all impressed? )

i just laughed so hard when i realized what i'd done. up to that moment, i was feeling quite full of myself because - for once - all the patches and blocks intersected either perfectly, or so close you could barely see the gafarbles. i couldn't resist sharing the "joke's on me" moment.

chairjogger 07-13-2008 12:55 AM

artists always have a little mistake to let the viewers know it is done by hand... ok.. granted, not such a small mistake.. but.. here is an excuse !
:D

chairjogger 07-13-2008 12:56 AM

PS, I agree. I would not say a thing. I do like your work also !

PatriceJ.....you know now that I think about it that quilt that went together so nice is the one that was an oops quilt.....i once made a block to see if I wanted to do that pattern ....well I used all the same material but one and it was similar...sent this quilt to the quilters to be quilted (this was before Dad had a machine)....WELL SHE HAD MY QUILT FOR 9 MONTHS...yeah I went and got my quilts...had 3 that needed to be done....don't know what took her so long but it was to long....okay back to the story...when I brought the quilt home...laid it out on my table and big as life was my boo boo....yeah I picked it out...know one could even see the mistake but me ...but me mattered...so guess that's what was taking her 9 months haha ha ha....sure glad you can laugh at your mistake...guess that is what we gotta do..... photo is of said quilt

She did do several other quilts and one of this group...she did really great work too...oh well

Katrine 07-13-2008 02:23 AM

I can't see it, gcathie!

patricej 07-13-2008 02:26 AM

neither can i. those are my favorite garfarbles. invisible to the rest of the world. :P

gcathie 07-13-2008 02:40 AM

Well hello ladies I picked it out and fixed it.....might be why you can't see it

here you thought you were going blind

maybe I mis wrote thought I said that...gonna reread post.......

yeah guess it is there but got alot of mumble jumble to read :-o

patricej 07-13-2008 12:55 PM

it should look familiar to you, yes. hated to use it in a quilt.

can't you picture it as a crisp summer dress with a pair of spectator pumps?

it's been really easy to work with. not sure i chose the best companion fabrics for it, but i made enough blocks for 3 tops so ... too late now to change my mind.

reneebobby 07-14-2008 02:56 AM

How about you believe in the Amish philosophy of "The only thing perfect is God" and you purposefully made a mistake?

Marguerite 07-17-2008 10:52 AM

Just call it "Broken Chain"

Bill'sBonBon 07-17-2008 11:23 AM

Yea I think broken chain is a good name for it. Unless you know what to look for you can't see a mistake. Sometimes mistakes are Gods gift to Spectacular. Bill'sBonBon

mgshaw 07-17-2008 01:30 PM

How about "The Irish Bender"
