I want to do a scrappy couch size quilt for my nephew and was inspired by nance-ell's tutorial. I thought I'd use shades of blue with a tone-on-tone white for the center block to brighten it up a bit. Now I'm not so sure. I used 5 inch squares because I have a lot of them and will cut more from fat quarters to add more variety, but don't want to waste the time or fabric if you think I should try something else. What do you think?

I think that's a great variation! If you hadn't said it was a D9P, I would be sitting here going how in the HECK did she do that??
BTW, love your avatar, too. Is it D4P that was also cross-cut on the diagonal? |
You've done good work so far, but I agree that it needs a little punching up. Can you do some add'l blocks, substituting a yellow for the white, and mix those in? Yellow looks so wonderful with any blue.
