Opinions Please. Which Layout?

My youngest DGD absolutely loves foxes--and rainbows. These are the blocks for her new quilt. It is Elizabeth Hartman's Fancy Foxes pattern and I have been attempting a rainbow-type layout.
I have 3 different possible layouts and cannot decide which to choose. I think I have looked at them too long. One design is 7x8 blocks while the other two are 7x9 blocks. I have figured out the different sized sashing I would need so that isn't an issue. The two 7x9 block options need a few more filler blocks but I really want to nail down the layout before making more. What do you think? (sorry they weren't on their sides on my computer) |
The middle one appealed to me. Great job and she’ll love it, whichever you choose.

This is one of the few that looking at the thumb nail gives a better idea of what the layouts are. All of them are beautiful and I love the foxes. You don't get that detail from the thumb nail. but you do get a better look at the layouts. My preference would be #3. it reminds me of a flock of birds being chased by the foxes. What ever you decide your DGD is going to love it. These foxes are unique and this quilt is going to be absolutely stunning.

Number two looks more like the rainbow you are going for, right? Great work on your foxes.
|
I like the first layout, symmetrical.
Here is another option for you. Reverse the curve layout from version # 2 in the middle. Make the curve start at the top. So first row has one block at each end, the second row has two blocks on each end (left side and right side). This curve follows the shape of the fox block. Great blocks and they will look nice in any of the layouts. Fun quilt! |
I like #3 the best as the three darkest purple? foxes are separated. If you interchange a lighter purple with the middle fox, I like the #2 just as well. It is going to be a beautiful quilt non-the-less and your grand daughter will love it.

I think the center one has the most effective rainbow 🌈 but any would be nice. Cute blocks!
|
I think I like #2. It looks more like a curved rainbow. Whatever you choose your DGD will love. All of the options are very pretty and your foxes are so darn cute.
|
I believe I prefer the middle one.
|
Another vote for the middle one.
Darling quilt, she will love it! Elise |

I like #2 best
|
I don’t have an opinion on a layout as they are all quite cute. I did want to say that the foxes are so darling! I’m sure whichever way you choose will be loved.
|
I signed in just so I could vote for number 2. You have the foxes with the faces, this layout gives you the rainbow so you have both for her. Wonderful job.
|
More of the rainbow layout is number 2. Cute pattern.

This! The fox head shape in the thumbnail really jumped out at me.

I vote for #1, but the others are a close 2nd and 3rd!

I like the middle one best, followed by the the first one. But they are all beautiful! great job! I had to chuckle when I read the variety of responses, so far! We all like different things, right? Best wishes on your choice!

I thank everyone for their comments. Wow! I never even noticed the fox head in the thumbnail. I am not going to reverse the order of colours tho. DGD can have the fun of sitting up in bed and seeing the gigantic fox head looking back at her. I have chosen to go with #2 and have filled in some of the spaces. Just two more blocks to make and then a few pair of strategically placed spectacle frames to applique. Thank you again for all your help!

#2. Is my vote
|
#1 gets my vote
|
I think the second one is more like a rainbow. That said, all are adorable.
|
Personally, I like the last one best
|
Traditional me votes for the first one.
|
Oh cute!! Definitely the middle one.. they are all
adorable but the middle layout is most comfortable to my eye. <3 |
Another yes for No. 2. She is going to love whichever layout you choose.
|
I also vote for No. 2 but was wondering if you were going to keep the foxes in the same color range as a rainbow.
It could be that way now but I couldn't really tell. I think if the colors followed the color of the rainbow it would be great. But p[perhaps that is what you are doing now. If so, ignore my dumb comment. |
first on the left as I look at the quilt. This will grace her bed and kids like symmetry.https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/smile.png

Thank you for all your responses. I decided that the middle layout was the best. I hope to have it quilted and bound by Oct. 1st, DGD's 9th birthday. I just had to make mitered corners and I guess practice makes perfect--the fourth and last corner that is.
|
I like the middle one best. Just more appealing to my eye.
Beautiful - no matter which way you choose to finish it, tho'. Bravo! Donna Mc |
Love the way it turned out! Guess our majority are pretty doggone smart!
|
I think I prefer #2.
|
I like them all, but number 2 is my favorite just as it is, not adding more blocks to the last row.
