So, I have been wanting to learn how to do wonky things....to get out of my prim and proper everything equal. So, can you tell me what you think of my 1st ever wonky block? It's a wonky house.

It looks great. I too have just begun doing wonky blocks and have found that the more I do the more comfortable I am at making it wonky. One suggestion is to keep the outside pieces larger so that you have plenty of seam allowance. Keep going the ones that you don't like... make great pillows or comfort quilts. Nothing goes to waste.

The great thing about wonky, is there is no right or wrong.

It is very cute! It is from Strolling the block pattern? It looks a lot like it. You did a great job!

smitty 11-27-2010 02:01 PM

now you need a wonky cat sitting the doorway, a wonky flower bed, etc. your mind can really get going when you have a good place to start. looks like a fun way to do scraps & just keep making them as the notion strikes you. bet you could do a progression of houses, occasions to show a family's journey.
darn, you may have got me started on something ! Fun !

carolaug 11-27-2010 02:01 PM

Just need a kitty in the doorway...

looks good but the seam on the left will have to be very narrow

AngieS 11-27-2010 02:46 PM

Next I'm going to do the wonky star. http://thesillyboodilly.blogspot.com...-tutorial.html

AngieS 11-27-2010 02:47 PM

Yeah, I should have taken more off of the right instead of the left.

maybe you can just put a wonky strip on the left side! And a wonky lawn and a wonky front walk! I am getting carried away here! Do the blocks have to be all the same size or can they be wonky too?

I love the word "wonky"!

daisey 11-27-2010 07:20 PM
