Ok what does everyone think. This is as far as I've gotten on the first Veterans lapquilt. Going to be making them for the hospice I volunteer at. was thinking of a small white border than a larger Dk blue/navy outside border.

The red stripe really is red LOL!!! my camera makes it look orangie.

All and any advice is appreciated. Have enough of the star fabric to make 1 more like this but with maybe a soldier in the middle instead of the eagle.

Also if anyone has seen any star fabric ,some what like it please let me know. This quilt was so fast to wipe up would love to make a bunch.
Thanks all

Very nice. I wonder if you even need borders. I'll bet an even smaller wheelchair quilt would be appreciated by hospitalized veterans. That's a great eagle.

I would make them lap size that would fit in a wheel chair. They are very nice.

Without seeing the whole thing end to end I can't tell what the outer fabrics are. I would just put a navy blue border on it and then bind it in the same blue or the red.

That is a great quilt. To be honest I think that a border would take away from the quilt. It is such a nice quilt.
Walmart did have some stars fabric similar to yours. I don't know if you have a wm near you but if you do then it might be worth checking it out.

Just bind it. Love the eagle

Great looking eagle!

Only bind it, IMHO. I'm sure it will be loved and appreciated. Try Googling star print fabric and I'll bet you'll get lots!

grammiepamie 05-30-2011 08:41 AM

I like it.

I like it...my grandpa was a veteran and I know he would have loved it.

sewsewquilter 05-30-2011 08:51 AM

My first thought was no borders. Bind it and call it done. It looks like it will be a great size for a wheelchair or someone sitting in a chair who needs something over their legs and lap.

Your top is very nice.

Beautiful! I don't think I would border it, unless it's too small for what you want it to be.

A dark blue border would bring out the blue of the USA applique. Plus it wouldn't show the dirt so much. What you have is so wonderful so far.

Audition them. Put the amount of white you would use on one side and the blue on the other and see what takes your eye
