I am making a fancy throw for my fancy new sofa (which I won't be using for another 2 years, long story!) so there is no rush but I am paper piecing these and I am going 6 blocks across but now that I see them I am thinking that maybe I should do a large pieced panel in the middle. It would be very busy looking if I just did all of these blocks for the whole quilt or would it as it is the pattern. I'm not sure.
What do you all think? |
Oh my goodness, what gorgeous colors and pattern. A quilt out of just the blocks would be amazing.
I think a quilt with these block will be wonderful. Beautiful fabrics, colors and pattern:)
Those colors just glow together!
I'm not sure, but sure love the colors. Will be watching to see what everyone else thinks.
I like it a lot!!!!
Maybe a sashing between blocks will break it up a bit-I love the colors and that is a great block!
A sashing of the blue/turquoise color would be beautiful. Maybe a cornerstone of the brown!?!? Those are gorgeous colors and beautiful pattern!
I think the blocks with some sashing would be great!

Ooh sashing with cornerstones sound lovely. Whatever you do will be fantastic. The colours are just stunning :)
Gorgeous blocks!!! :D
I don't have an answer but just love them!! |
Beautiful blocks. They just glow.
I love the way the blocks connect and continue on! Don't break them up.
Those blocks are designed to join each other side to side and top to bottom. Sashing would destroy the overall pattern.it is really going o be a spectacular quilt and your color choices are fantastic. Good job.
Either way would be beautiful! It would have to be a special panel to do justice to what you have already accomplished. :)

I think the idea of a center panel would be nice... they really are beautiful blocks, but a calmer center panel might give your eye an area to rest for second. The right borders and sashes would do it too as one quilter already suggested.
I just did a baby quilt using very similar colors! These are the colors my son/daughter-in-law picked for their nursery (it's a boy). Sharing just for funzies... : ) . |
I think it will be great as one but if your set on breaking it up, what about sashing, then four rows of your blocks then sashing, then four rows, then sashing. I hope that makes sense. It would keep your pattern design.
I think just the blocks would be amazing, maybe even sashing them with another color?
Gorgeous colors. What a sharp looking block. Your plan sounds good to me.
I love it the way you have it here.
Beautiful fabrics. I wouldn't sash, you'd lose the secondary pattern that will emerge. It won't be too 'busy' with the limited colour palette - be brave and go with it, it will be stunning. :-D
I agree with hobo2000 - the secondary pattern will be gorgeous. That is an amazing color combination!!!
Wow! That turquoise fabric sure does pop doesn't it! It's beautiful. In order for me to state my opinion, I'd need to see what the panel fabric would be.
It will be just amazing with all these blocks!! A true work of art.

Those blocks look wonderful and almost sparkle because of the amount of each fabric in the combo. If you start putting MORE turquoise in there, the mix gets out of whack, and it just won't be as special JMHO I'm dying to see your fancy couch - must be pretty cool to go with those blocks/color combo. |
OK, wait.
If you wanted to put in sashing to make it bigger then here's an option: The only sashing I would add would be from the dark fabric with another turquoise square in square in the middle (turq on point with the print corners) - the same as the strips you'be put around the block. The cornerstones should be dark as well - or incorporate them into the sashing strips. But they should just blend in. So now there would be a chain of 5 turq's diamonds connecting in each direction. That would also mask the fact of the sashing because it would be such a integral part of the pattern. You couldn't tell the difference between the block and sashing components. Does that make any sense? |
ohhhh those are beautiful i vote for no sashing you will loose the flow of the blocks
I love these blocks! Either way would be beautiful...I would do all of the blocks. You have the time and that way you wouldn't think back and wonder what it may have looked like done completely in the blocks. :)
I just love, going to be beautiful.Connie in CO
I like it just the way it is!! Haven't tried pp yet, but so want to!
Wow beautiful!!!!! The colors will pop. I made a bright throw quilt and it was so cheerful looking that I made another one in a differrent pattern for the back of a chair, Everyone that walks in loves them and the bright colors.. I think either way you go you will love it. Good luck
They are beautiful colors and the pattern goes so well with the colors. I would make as many as I need to finish to the appropriate size. Lot of work, but worth every stitch in the end. Youe will not be sorry. Please post when finished. :-D
That is gorgeous

Does that make any sense? Yes yes thats a great idea! I was going to just stick with the blocks because of the general concensus but this idea is worth looking into. Many thanks. I'll keep you updated so  |
love your colors!!!
The blocks are wonderful. Have you thought about setting them on point and using an additional fabric for the background? I think it would make the blocks pop.
I respectfully disagree about sashing. I love those 4 little squares in a row!!!!
1 vote for no center. All blocks quilt. It will be seen as a stunning unit. I do not think it will be "busy". Might even end up being your liv rm's focal point! Love your colors. :-D |
i vote for just these blocks
You could always make 2 quilts with this pattern. One with sashing and one without. :)
