I was having such a bad day today (will spare you all the details) however I didn't check the mail early afternoon like usual. Fast forward....husband said did we get any mail this afternoon and I said I forgot to check so I trotted out to check. .....
I had a package from Pam "pittsburgpam" she is such a sweetheart. She sent me the prettiest pin cushion she had made. She does such exquisite work, of course I don't have to tell you all that we all ooh and aww over everything she does! But needless to say after my awful day this was the perfect ending and I thank Pam soooo very much! :D

For some reason, squishys make the bad things go away!

RedGarnet222 05-15-2009 08:02 PM

What a sweetheart to send you something she knew you loved. The people on this board are awesome. Great work pam!

Janstar 05-15-2009 08:43 PM

Beautiful cushion Pam. You are a very thoughtful person!

pittsburgpam 05-15-2009 10:29 PM

I wanted to thank Sharon for the buttons she sent. I put one of them on the pincushion.

Thank you for the buttons!

I AM HAVING A BAD DAY!!! Hint Hint LOL

user3587 05-16-2009 09:34 AM

I would like to get that pattern to make my church sisters each a cushion but the link (on another topic on the board) won't come up on my computer for some reason. If anyone has the instructions for this I would greatly appreciately it. Isn't it nice to get something in the mail that lifts your spirits especially after a trying day.

k3n 05-16-2009 09:46 AM

Sharon, I'm so glad your day was brightened! Love the pin cushion, think I see scraps of the Dahlia in there?!

I guess you have to go to the specific blog post for it now.

Yes, I used pieces of the dahlia. They look great in that setting.

Still have more vines and flowers to applique. I can unfold it and put it back on the guest bed now but, I am so anxious to get started on the one that I have put off for a week!

Well I'm in no position to lecture you on your WIPs! :D

Mousie 05-17-2009 10:32 AM

well, Pam, since K, is being a nag, I get to, too!
Whatever happened with your package, that was supposed to arrive and some kids had tampered with previous packages? 17 yards, you were waiting for? someone suggested that you contact company, and they might re-ship or reimburse? I need closure, lol. :D
edit: 'scuse me,...that was really nice of you, to send that lovely pincushion to sharon, and you knew, just when to do it, how ESP of you

Quiltncrazy, The fabric did get here! My neighbor had it and said that it was delivered that Monday when the tracking says it was delivered the Monday before. Either way, I'm glad I got it. :) I had notified the seller and they were in the process of trying to recreate my order in anticipation of me notifying them that I hadn't received it. Good thing I got it since she said that they didn't have enough left to fill all of my order.

I'll get to the dahlia and I vow to have the top done this year.

Mousie 05-17-2009 02:31 PM

oh, I'm so happy for you. I kind of wondered if neighbor might have gotten it, and she sounds a bit forgetful/distracted.
seventeen yards is a lot of fabric. I probably would have had a stroke.
So, dahlia quilt, will eventually get center stage again. I'm not brave enough to try one of those yet, but I have some yummy colors in mind, if/when, I do. thanks for letting us know, Pam. :D

It really wasn't too hard to do with the Marti Michel templates. They were pricey but I think worth it. I especially like that there are little holes along the edges to make a mark for aligning the pieces. Take two pieces, align and pin the two edges, then stick a pin through the dot on each fabric to line them up. When sewing the long curved sections together you just align the seams and the dots along that edge. The curve is very slight so it's not as hard as doing circles.

Mousie 05-18-2009 06:02 AM

was wondering, now that you have the accu cut thingy, does it cut off the 'ears' too? I know I am going to love this Marti Michell stuff, and thinking, can I make it work with other patterns. I might get spoiled, by having stuff line up, just right, and not be able to do other ppl's patterns.

Bevanger 05-18-2009 06:29 AM

Awwww what a sweetie. Its so very pretty Sharon.....

I haven't used it yet but a quick test just did basic squares. I don't believe that it cuts off the ears.
