Packed for Travel

I'm trying something new. Here are two quilts and matching pillows packed in the vacuum bags to conserve space. Hope this works. Will post pics of the quilts after they're unpacked.

Yea, I would like to know because I am moving in the next couple of weeks and planned on doing the same thing with my quilts and fabric. Hope it works.
great idea. I have thought of trying to take quilt gifts with me on long trips to friends but wondered how to do it. Thanks for sharing your idea.
Anxious to see how they survived. I just moved, and what a mess with blankets and quilts managing to escape all over the moving van!
I also will be watching to see how this works. How long will you be leaving the quilts like this? I think this would be great for sending in the post. Thanks for trying this. Being compacted does this make it heavier? BrendaK

If you used cotton batting, I would be worried about permanent creases developing. How long are you planning on letting them stay in the bags?
The batting is polyester. They'll be in the bag about 10 hours.
Great idea! I would think they would be fine for that short length of time!
I tried it once with fabric. Unused fabric just doesn't squish down!! I guess it is as compact as it will go!!
I bought a bag to try & ship a quilt to Germany. The biggest problem was the plastic housing where you have to attach the vacuum piecing to.... And so... the little bag lives on in the garage waiting for another chance!
