Paint chip challenge-by Harriet

4 Attachment(s)
Our sewing group holds a retreat once a year. Last year was our first group challenge. We were given two color paint chips and the instruction to make a quilt no bigger than 40"x40" and it had to have applique. The winner was given a decked out iron. Here are some of the quilts.
The first is the winner! Next year's challenge is to use a panel. Stay tuned!

Very interesting! I take it that each person was given different colors of paint chips? How silly of me, I was enjoying the quilts so much I did not notice the paint chips next to them, until I went back for another look!

Great challenges! My favourite is the hexagon table runner.

All are beautiful...but really love that table runner!!

What a great idea! Table runner is my favourite, but all are beautiful. Isn't it amazing how many different directions quilting can be taken in?

Bought an iron at Goodwill. Removed the plug and spray painted gold. Then added some large jewels to the sole plate. Each winner will sign and keep for a year.

Very interesting and some great examples! It seems like the paint chips might have helped with fabric choices and the range of the color palette. I'd like to see more!!

Great inspiration each one had. It really shows they all know how to quilt after piecing. How many have a LA? Be sure to show us the next results.

jmoore 12-15-2016 04:47 AM

That would be a fun challenge...and interesting to see all the end results. Obviously there are some talented and creative quilters in your group. : )

twinkie 12-15-2016 04:58 AM

Dodie 12-15-2016 06:21 AM

All are wonderful but my favorite is the flower vase and what a wonderful idea for any quilting group gets our brains to working I am anxious to see what you come up with using panels

Only two long armers. I did quilt the baskets and the flower pot.
