Thank you for sharing. This is the best reason to quilt and give. I make chemo lap quilts and never thought about painting a picture on a block even though I am a painter. What kind of paint did you use? I would love to incorporate this into the quilts I make to make them even more personal. Thanks.

Cancer is devastating to all it encounters be they victims or family. Luckily, she has friends and family who love her and to whom she will always be a loving memory. I hope she is able to enjoy this lovely quilt from a loving family member. Condolences to you and your family in your loss.

Beautiful flowers for a comforting quilt to wrap her in love. Such a sad story.

Everyone can learn from this - don't skip your annual PAPs. I did for 4 years. I was lucky - the cancer had not spread into other areas, but I did have to have a hysterectomy, because the surgeon could not get clean margins in the first surgery.

smurfsmom 11-17-2012 10:52 AM

So sorry for the reason for the quilt but it is truly spectacular.

what a blessing...the quilt and the love that went into it Before my brother lost his 4th and final battle to cancer February of this year, I crocheted him a large granny square afghan to use when he went for chemo, transfusions and of course home. He loved it and now his wife uses it and remembers him. I hadn't gotten to see him in 8 years and charged an airline ticket the see him 8 months before he died. He llived halfway across the USA and I am a senior on a fixed income. It was a blessing to visit for that week I got to be with them.

Thanks for sharing what you did. Beautiful.

Thank you all - truly. I'm trying not to cry as I read the responses all of you so graciously took the time to post. My friend told us that she's looking into some clinical trials but and other alternatives, but she has told us repeatedly that although she hasn't given up she is also at peace. She knows that we all love her dearly so that's all that matters.

You and your friends are doing all you can to make this special lady feel loved - what more could we give to each other? God bless all of you - it's wonderful that you can be there for her on this journey. I 'walked beside' my dearest lifelong friend for the last 6 months of her life while she battled her cancer. It was the closest I'd felt to her in all the years we'd been friends and I'm so honored to have been allowed to spend those precious last days with her.

Linda - we just used fabric paints; you can find them either at Michaels or Joann's usually in the aisle with the decorations to put on clothes (patches, rhinestones, etc)

A beautiful tribute to a good friend and family member. God Bless You All for your loving spirit!

The quilt is beautiful and may it give her some comfort as she bask in the love it brings. It is so sad and brings back memories of a quilt we made for a friend who had cancer. She so loved it and it was used as the casket cover when she passed which she had requested.

God's Blessing to you and your friend!
