I can't draw so I used stencils and rubber stamps to paint on fabric...Another project to sandwich and quilt....

Yes I am wandering what paint you used too. I co teach an art quilting class and we are using acrylic paints slightly watered down, but they are not washable. We also use paint sticks. Shivia ( i think thats the spelling)

Michael's Craft store...or even Joann's sells Fabric Paints and you just heat set with iron after it entirely dries...

Ok, thanks for the info. The paint sticks are really fun with stencils and we make our own with freezer paper, any applique design can be made into a stencil for this.
I would love to see pics when you are done quilting. Please post for us!

If you add textile medium to the acrylic paint (not water) you will be able to wash the piece. You just need to let it dry then iron on the wrong side to set it. My avatar is painted with acrylic paint.

Yes that is true, you can use the textile medium for washing. With the art quilts in that class we were just messing around knowing we were not going to wash them. We are going to try snow dyeing soon for this class, I will have to post pics when we are done.
