Just using up some scraps ... this is such an easy paper piecing pattern! I think I can go on forever using all my scraps LOL

Its beautiful, will you share the name of the pattern, or is "palm trees" the name?

Tartan 05-09-2017 01:08 PM

Pretty blocks! I love positive /negative patterns.

lynnie 05-09-2017 01:11 PM

beautiful!! i love the points, the straight lines almost looked curved at time. What a scrap buster.

osewme 05-09-2017 01:12 PM

I so wish I could paper piece. I have such a problem with it as it all seems backwards to me. Your blocks are beautiful.

nativetexan 05-09-2017 01:12 PM

palm leaves hosannah is in quilterscache . com site.

QuiltnNan 05-09-2017 01:13 PM

Love it....great fabric choices.

MarionsQuilts 05-09-2017 01:54 PM

Thanks! It's pretty easy!

This is one of the easier paper piecing patterns to do, so if you're leery of paper piecing, I highly recommend this one. I just cut strips of 2 x7.5 inches (for the longest one) and went from there. I don't really care right now if there is some "waste" as these are all from my scraps and I have too many scraps!

Yes, it's just called palm leaves. Each block is made up of four blocks (which is made up of four blocks!) .. so you can change the layout! I will probably do 4 blocks of the same layout and then 4 more of a different layout, and depending on how I keep going, do 4 more of a different layout ... the results will come in time!

I love Quilters Cache, she has so many beautiful blocks and all skill levels.

TU for posting these Marionquilts. Another one to add to the bucket list.

I wonder if the quilters cache pattern is the same, I looked at it and it doesn't look the same. There is a square at the end of the block with an inset seam.

sinceresissy 05-10-2017 03:31 AM

Good start. This pattern will make a great stash buster.

Moonglow 05-10-2017 03:44 AM

Wonderful use of scraps.

twinkie 05-10-2017 03:45 AM

Frankie - I took that square and made it into a triangle, and just made sure to remember to put a triangle on the other one!

red-warrior 05-10-2017 05:12 AM

Great start I would love to see the finished product!

rryder 05-10-2017 05:29 AM

Very cool! I'm looking forward to seeing the quilt. Thanks for the link.

Love them, just printed out the paper piecing sheets. By the way, I love pp. It is the only way I can be accurate. I see all these beautiful quilts that are pieced the regular way but for the life of me can not cut out the fabric correctly. I used to sew all my children's clothes and they came out well.

lmh21313 05-10-2017 09:45 AM

Love It! <3 Great way to use scraps!

Boston1954 05-10-2017 09:48 AM

Your points are amazing! I would love to see this queen sized. It's terrific.

MarionsQuilts 05-10-2017 11:44 AM

Boston, I just finished a king-size bali star wedding quilt, there is no way I am doing another quilt that big for a long long time!!!!

Points are super easy to do when doing PP.

Whenever I find a pattern that I like, I always try and find the PP pattern for it, or make my own. I am so not cutting up that many pieces and sewing them together. That is just way to much work, and too much room for error!

All of my blocks will be dark / light, but I think there's going to be a huge mix of colours, so we will see how it works out! Might not look good as a quilt - you never know!

BrendaK 05-10-2017 03:47 PM

BEAUTIFUL. Thanks for the link. BrendaK

meanmom 05-10-2017 03:57 PM

That is beautiful. I love that pattern. I need to look on Quilters Cache. I really love to paper piece.

Innov8R 05-10-2017 05:28 PM

These lovely blocks are such a wonderful way to use up some of those scraps.

ccthomas 05-10-2017 05:51 PM

Nice palm leaves.

SherB 05-11-2017 07:01 AM

I agree with Frankie. Marions block is different from the one on Quilters cache (I like it better) and the arrangement is also better. Well done Marion!

rosiewell 05-11-2017 07:02 AM

nice choice of fabric!

JanieH 05-11-2017 11:32 AM

Great block and your work is beautiful.

MarionsQuilts 05-11-2017 11:49 AM

Thanks! I can't take credit tho, I saw it on pinterest. Found the PP pattern, and realized how easy it was to change, so made the change!

mamajack3 05-12-2017 01:51 AM

That's going to be beautiful! Please keep us updated.
