For Marcia who asked to see my full Sunflower Quilt - Having gone through all 18 blocks in Pam's "Rectrangles New Piecing Tricks by Leisure Arts but free publication to Pam's Club Members back then (I made two single sized quilts because blocks were 17", I learned her methods quickly and went on to set 6 other whole quilt tops in 8 weeks!

Wow Do you have some heart and soul in this quilt!

feline fanatic 06-26-2016 08:55 AM

Fabulous! Love them both. I especially like your border treatment on the second picture(what I can see of it) and that you alternated the blocks with black and white backgrounds. It is especially striking because you did a lot of it in solids. Or at least they look like solids in the picture.

Yes, they were solid backgrounds but the colour placement layout was Pam's suggestion - I couldn't afford printed fabrics back then but did have a variegated yellow striped fabric for the sunflowers which looked so natural - like the streaky veins in petals.

Childhood memories of sunflowers bigger than my head in England but can't seem to grow them so well in Western Australia; must be the heat; my favourite flower. Next door neighbours have 4-5 metre trees in their back garden of similar, smaller flower, but definitely sunflower looking. I can't find out the name of the tree?

redquilter 06-28-2016 05:06 PM
