This is what I have so far. Still have to wash the stabilizer out and cut the sashing and attach it. But this is what I have after 2 weeks of non stop sewing. My back is KILLING ME!
Hope to assemble this weekend. Might need a nice hospital bed to rest my back in by Monday.

OOOhh! I like it Vicki! so pretty! Did you weave the basket...it looks like they are woven...if not fantastic choice in material. I am sure you appliqued the flowers. love the briliant colors. Get it together and then while you are in the bed you can hand quilt it....Won't that be fun? :D :?

Great job. Could you maybe take a picture of just one of the block straight on so that we could see the detail a little better. I think it looks great. Don't forget to show it to us after you have it done.

Sandra: the basket was wovwn using (2 ) 1 1/2 " strips. Had to buy some pressing bars cause I had never done anything like this before. I started in March and set it aside to make the lap/sofa quilt for a coworker who retired in May and a baby quilt (the butterflies) for a couple that just had teir 2nd baby. Now I have 2 weeks left to get this done. That's when I am going to visit family in New Orleans and it needs to go with me so I can give it to my aunt. No One is the family except my sister, Virginia, knows about this. Its just my deadline because I'd like tobe able to give it to her in person. But the hardest part is behind me (I hope) :!:

What can I say its wonderful. The colors are brilliant and look very soft and velvety like a pansy. beauitful work

Yvonne 08-15-2007 08:12 PM

WOW! It is going to be gorgeous!

Beautiful, gorgeous, stunning, can't find enough words to describe it. I love the basket weaving effect, too.

DebJ 08-15-2007 09:00 PM

I click the link for the closeup of the pansies. They're wonderful, they have a realistic velvet look about them. Makes you want to touch them just like I do real pansies. Looking forward to seeing it finished so we can see what you chose for the sashing (green or what).

ShellyQ 08-15-2007 10:55 PM

You really have been busy Vicki, that looks amazing. I don't know how you do it what with working and all too. The colours you have used for your pansies are so rich and glowing. The woven baskets are great and such alot of work and here I was moaning about making one basket. It is going to be a gorgeous quilt and your Aunt is going to be thrilled.

Love those pansy's, Very nice, very artful.

Coal Miner Wife 08-16-2007 03:58 AM

That is the most beautiful quilt. I may have missed it since I am new here but did you have a pattern, or did you design it your self.

Don't know if I could do a whole quilt but I would love to do a wallhanging.

Pansies are my fav. flower

Oh wow! Vicki that is gorgeous. I thought the baskets were just clever fabric at first, from the pic on this thread, but got that close look in the link and drooled. What a lot of work (excellent work!!) you've put into this quilt. It's so colorful and cheery. So beautiful!

mimisharon 08-16-2007 06:59 AM

WOW Vicki, glad you didn't use that plastic thread now, aren't you? I love it, it's very very beautiful. My fingers would be itching to hand quilt that one. You are so talented at fabric art!!

XOXO
Sharon

Oh gorgeous, you are very talented. Hopefully i can make something like that one day, love your colors. I'm not one for picking colors to blend in right. Great work.
