Paper pieced birds

1 Attachment(s)
For my first paper piecing project, I choose birds! Note to self: there are paper piecing patterns that are easier and that have fewer pieces for a first timer.
Well all in all I think it is okay for a debut paper pieced, but I am going to tackle something a little more in my comfort zone, if I do it again.

Wow, first pp project, that's amazing. Your quilt is beautiful!

With the difficulty that you tackled in the quilt I think you have moved on from beginer to advanced! Very nice. Maybe give us some close ups to drool over.

Looks great from what I can see. The angle of your photo makes it a little difficult. Beautiful colors.

Note to you: :D you are right, there are much easier PPing patterns available. Watch out, it is very additive.:)

Yep, for a first(or second or third or...) pp project, that's mighty ambitious! But, it paid off because it's also mighty fabulous! I love it! Today must really be "bird day" -- there are so many pictures of bird-related things on the board today. As close as I come? I'm a bird-brain... LOL! You, however, are an ace pp'er!

Mariposa 06-06-2012 02:27 PM

Wow! Great job! Did you use a set of patterns? And welcome to the fun world of PP~~:)

Liz92B 06-06-2012 02:42 PM

nice that you stuck that kitty-cat in there {giggle}

I really like your quilt. I do tend to like things that are difficult. However, the most difficult are so appealing to the eye and this quilt is very appealing. What is the pattern? Grace

pastimesquiltdesign 06-06-2012 06:17 PM

Wow, that looks like a pretty difficult pattern to learn on. You did a fantastic job. Congratulations for seeing it through to the finish. Peggy

Oh is that beautiful. I love the cat in there

earthwalker 06-06-2012 07:12 PM

Well done! I haven't tried PPing but if I did I'm sure mine would look nothing like birds at all:) maybe Pteradactyls:) Lovely colours and fabrics....very pretty indeed.

lollygagging 06-06-2012 07:35 PM

WOW, what an ambitious first effort and very, very successful at that! Great colors and I love the single dozing, fat cat block. Thanks for sharing.

You did a lovely job. Great fabrics, too.

Your quilt looks fabulous :)
I've been working on a difficult paper piecing project and then just started Carol Doak's bom and was like wow, this is easy lol. After doing pping projects like that, "regular" block patterns seem like a cake walk!

Are those Claudias designs? www.claudias-quilts.com She has some awesome bird patterns - among others :)

Is this from the Backyard Bird book? I did 4 of those and decided I didn't want to do anymore. You did a great job.

Applause for your first paper pieced quilt. It is lovely and I can't wait to see what you next project looks like. Some people, like yourself, are just blessed with patience and skill!!
