I thought thats what it was. My aunt used to make those. Great job!

Prairie Quilter 06-08-2010 08:37 AM

Sounds like an excellent reason for me to finally go ahead and buy a serger

Well, by the friend's smile, she was thrilled with her birthday gift. Yes, granddaughter's is adorable, as I'm sure as adorable as the one who wears it.

Our guild had a one day workshop to make one of these. My colors were gorgeous, construction went fine, BUT in my opinion, these jackets only look good on someone under a size 12!! I looked wretched!! Looked like it was made by Omar the tent maker!! So, I turned it into a gift for an old friend!! She loves it!!
On the other hand, I love the one I made for my great granddaughter Sara!!

Looks like it was ten times more labor intensive. You make it sound easy.

What a nice job! I really enjoy making jackets as I run out of places for quilts, wall-hangings, etc. but can always use another jacket. I also vote for a tutorial.

Is this your creation? It seems as if you satin stitched each piece of fabric. Did you use a sweatshirt? For a weekend project you are amazing.

Hey, Quilting Addict, you're right that most things only look good on a size 12. But that's never stopped me from wearing them. Size 12 - that's a long time ago!

Dodee 07-05-2010 12:45 PM

Oh my gosh - only a weekend. That jacket is gorgeous and if someone doesn't like it, just let me know.
