Patriotic Trip Around The World

Made this for a group that gives quilts to vets that are in the hospital, or in hospice. TATW pattern goes really fast! After quilting, I used decorative stitch on my DSM to cover up some of the traveling I had to do quilting the border, and also to attach the binding.

Love your quilt!!!!!

rryder 08-14-2016 01:13 PM

Good job, I'm sure the veteran who receives it will love it!

I like the way you used the decorative stitches to hide the travel stitches. What a great alternative to either breaking thread or just living with the thread build up in the ditch--I'm going to give that a try on my next heavily quilted quilt.

Such a very special quilt and I love the use of the decorative stitches! Your choice of stitches really work to add to the quilt and the one you used for binding is very nice. Well done!

Love, love, love this! The guild I belong to in Western NC, near Asheville has donated quilts to veterans in a 3 county area for the last 4 years totalling almost 200 quilts. What size ismthe quilt and what. size are your blocks? I would love to do one like this in the future.

Donnasue 08-16-2016 03:22 PM

It ended up around 50x54. The squares were 2x4 finished. I made sets of 4.5 inch strips of 6 fabrics, and made them into tubes. Then cut 2.5 inch strips from the tubes.
