Oh how nice that looks!! I have a question--are you worried at all about fabric fading since it's exposed? Or will you put a curtain over it? There's a room upstairs I could make into a sewing room, but it's very bright and I worry about fading.

Thanks for sharing your fabulous space!!

 A round of applause, Alaskasunshine

What a beautiful display of fabric. I could just stare at that rainbow of colours and be happy.

Wonderful organisational skills.

I have a silly question. If you leave the fabric on the "bolt" like that for a long time will the edge fade?

seamstome,
thanks so much for the compliments and as far as fabric fading, I have not had that problem. I have had 3 or 4 fabrics fade in some folds as was discussed on this board on another thread. I have my dormer window covered with light blocking pleated shades, they also keep in the heat. In the first set of pictures of "quilt room in process" the hutch that is yellowish/cream colored is also covering the same window. The other window is also covered with the same blind. It is my intention to make a curtain to cover the wall of shelves just to really protect the fabrics.

Doing all of this was really fun but soooooo time consuming. I still have lots to do though. Give it a try, it is so rewarding! I can hardly believe it was me that organized that mess! ;)  :D

Your sewing room is wonderful...wanna trade?

Oh I totally can relate with you. Once I looked around me and saw such chaos I was freaked out thinking what have I gotten myself into? My husband was like, just do a little bit at a time. So I relaxed and did just that. One bolt at a time & one shelf at a time. Like I said I still have Christmas, brights, patriotic, and lots of flannel to do yet...YIKES! I'll enlisting your help...any takers?

We are in the process of trying to close on a house. My current sewing area is a closet. I am looking forward to getting my room and decorating and designing the layout. Thank you for the inspiration!

OOOOO-EEEEE your stash is amazing. I love your organization. Doesn't it make it easier and inspire you to sew, sew, sew?

Your room looks great. I know it is a lot of work, but so worth it. Kudo's to you. :-D

The easiest way for me to organize was to put my fabrics in color piles. Then wrap like crazy. A very slow process but rewarding none the less. :D It sort of feels odd to see such order in my quilt room
