I know quilting helps ease grief. It helped a lot after my DD died. :-(

Yes it does help doesn't it. My DM passed away in April from issues related to her Alzheimers and I spent a lot of time quilting while off of work. It's a wonderful therapy for me...although it's definitely not cheaper than a therapist!

Diannia thank you for sharing your quilts and the stories behind them. I am so sorry for the loss of your stepson. I hope the quilts continue to bring you comfort - they are all beautiful and I am sure the newest little additions to your family will treasure theirs. And Hurrah for Purple!

Thanks Sue! My mom's fav flower was lilacs so I did that in purple and called it "Lilac Love" for her. I hand quilted it with large flowers using the big stitch method. Since she was in a nursing home and we were afraid the quilt would "find it's way to someone else" I made a template of her full name and quilted it around the border with smaller flowers at each corner. I sent it to her for Christmas. My family took it to her in the nursing home. They left it for a few days then took it back home and would take it to her ever so often. My DSIL just mailed it back to me. It was very bittersweet to receive it back.
