Here are some pics of projects I have pieced. Please be gentle as I am still a newbie. Have only done these few projects in three years or so. Life and work got in the way. Now that I am unemployed, a student, and not stressed, quilting is back in my life.

The three hearts were the first project I sewed on my new Janome 6600P. I attempted applique, machine stitching, stablizing, quilt label, and a hanger all on the same quilt!

There is one quilt I missed putting in here. Will post later.

The large quilt is made of flannels, is sized for my king sized bed. and will have a flannel backing as soon as I get to my fav LQS. I think I will do a random stipple in this one.
I loved all the colors in this one except for the one that is a bit orange stripe. It is actually a heavy cotton of some type. It was in the kit, so I used it. However, I would take it out if doing one
again.

The other heart one is my first attempt alone (no quuilt teacher/friend watching and guiding) at HST. I think I will make it a wall hanging.

Anyway, be honest and let me know what you think. Thanks for looking.
gain.

Hearts to You

Don't remember the name. Was fun to make. Have to work on my corners and such.

Another kit. My DD does not like the bright colors mixed in. I do!

Thank you Amma. I am not one to show my work nor to ask for opinions, but that is one reason I love this forum - everyone encourages and lifts up. Thank you so much.

Thanks for your kind words of encouragement.

wvdek 08-13-2009 07:52 PM

Too funny. I'll try and find the pattern tom. and post here. Was not hard but really skewed points and such. Will have to practice, practice, practice.

wvdek 08-13-2009 07:54 PM

 Thanks Lisa. I'll post a couple of other pics of 'back' yard. It is Almost Heaven. My DS comes just to sit on our deck and take in the beauty and stillness. Maybe I will have to rethink the hot tub for my back. She may never leave.

wvdek 08-13-2009 08:21 PM

Your quilts are great! Everyone has to learn along the way. I think you have done a terrific job with the ones you have chosen to make! Far better than the ones I did when I started!!

wvdek 08-13-2009 08:48 PM

Oh my. How generous you are. I'm sure you did fine with your first ones. As with anything, we get better the more we practice. Thank you.

SulaBug 08-13-2009 11:08 PM

Bevanger 08-14-2009 04:16 AM

You should be VERY proud, as I think you did a fantastic job on all of them. Keep up the good work, and THANKS for sharing

wvdek 08-14-2009 06:13 AM

I go to sleep, I wake up, and all these wonderful (blushing), kind comments are posted. And to think I am usually pretty private and thought no one would care. You folks made a liar out of me.

Sula - if the work is advanced, I wouldn't know it
My old boss and now friend and quilt teacher said not to limit myself. She is a great teacher and wonderful quilter. Very generous and giving of her time, talents, fabric, use of tools, etc. She is my mentor and teacher for quilting and does not cost me a dime. Once in awhile I babysit her home and critters and she reciprocates with her teachings (sometimes money) .

Cajun - That pattern is in one of the Reiman publication mags. Probably Country Women. If you google it you should find it. I used some old button from grams' box, lace from my wedding dress umpteen years ago, and other bits and pieces. It was fun.

I absolutely could feel it. Thanks again for posting them. Oh and I just love your beautiful collie.(atleast I think it is a collie) he/she is awesome.

littlehud 08-14-2009 06:51 PM

You did a great job on those. I really love your quilt. Those colors are so pretty.

wvdek 08-14-2009 09:16 PM

Cajun - yes Laddie Boy is my soul mate with four legs. He is also totally blind. I rescued him from the pound about 4 or 5 years ago. He is simpoly the best and most folks can't believe he is blind he gets around so well. He trusts me so much it is almost scary.

wvdek 08-14-2009 09:16 PM

Thanks again for all the latest comments. Really nice to have the support.

estherblair 08-15-2009 08:25 AM

ginnie6 08-15-2009 08:38 AM

those are amazing! I'm new to this and I wish I could get my points as good as yours!

wvdek 08-15-2009 06:32 PM

Gosh ginnie6! I am flattered. (Guess you'd better not look too close! :? ) Thanks for the compliment.
I watch how Eleanor Burns does her points and my friend showed me how she does hers. Now to live up to that.

sewnsewer2 08-15-2009 06:34 PM

Great job!

JoanneS 08-15-2009 08:32 PM

I like them all, but I especially like the hearts with the star. You did well with the HSTs - and they're not as easy as they look!

Keep on quilting!

earthwalker 08-15-2009 10:05 PM

Your quilts are beautiful (I am a sucker for hearts). Your home patch also makes a gorgeous backdrop....I really liked looking at your work, and I think your choice in colours was great too. Look forward to seeing more of your creations (love your dog too!).
