Very cute. I've never seen one done either. Thank you for posting. :)

especially in Vermont! Not to many lizards up there I bet!

That is really cool!

How does the cotton work when wet? I have two older bath mats from the boys' bathroom that both have holes in the middle (don't ask me how- it's the BOY'S bathroom!). I considered covering like you have and quilting. Are you happy with it? BTW it looks great.

I just used a new hand towel and an old thin towel and regular cotton. I was surprised at the cotton and the drying. It works great. The one I saw said they used old towels, but I wanted to try the new first. Next time I think I will not use the old towel, just the new one. Again the one I saw did use quilting. I also sewed quilting several times after pic was taken to hold it together better.

Did you know my Aunt? She used to do that. The woman never threw anything away. She made bathmats and rugs out of old towels and pillow cases. And yes for some reason they were always worn in the middle. She also would sew a big X or Cross to keep everything from shifting.

Like this a lot - a person could make their own shower curtain and matching bath mat!

DebbE 04-11-2013 06:38 PM

Wouldn't it be nice to piece a shower curtain, attach the backing and quilt it & then make a coordinating bath mat, and take it one step further and frame some blocks in the same colors for the wall? Been mulling that over for a couple of months since our bath was remodeled....don't have to worry about humidity too much as its just hubby & I, so door remains open.

Beautiful bathmat. No you aren't the only one with lizards in their bathroom-when I visited a friend's relative there was a huge iguana in their bathtub. Apparently it used the bathtub as it's litter box. Ok so not the same as your lizards in bathroom. I really liked your lizards alot better than hers.

Awesome job!

Someone on this QB did a bathmat but used 5 in squares for the top. I love both ideas. Good Job. Hugs

I've made a couple of them, they are so much fun. Didn't think about lizards, I have birds, cats and just about every other kind of animal print. my bathroom will become a wildlife santuary.
