I already had a stash established before I started quilting. I used to make dolls and wall hangings for craft fairs and started collecting fabrics before I ever quilted.

This is my very first quilt. We had an all-night quilt night and there were about 12 of us doing this pattern at the same time. Made in 1999

This was another all-night adventure, in 2001, maybe OOPS bad picture, better one below

This is my second quilt. I went home and pulled these fabrics from my stash and just did it! week later in 1999

More if you don't mind

I'll share pictures of my queen size quilts sometime later, it's hard to get good help holding quilts for more than a few minutes, they start goofing off too much!!! I tend to make a lot of queen size quilts now. Except for the wedding gifts. Everyone is getting married these days and lap size or so is plenty big!!!

my first (and only so far) flannel rag quilt.

Another All-nighter pattern. This picture isn't very good. I love the white daisy fabric in the centers and have tried high & low to find more. I love the colors in this one!!

More...... We have a group of ladies at church and we get together almost every month to work on projects. We started out doing all-nighters, I would cross stitch all night and finally in 1999 they convinced me to try my first quilt. We no longer do all-nighters (as of 2007) but each February we all work on the same pattern and in July we do a mystery. Sometimes we will all work on charity quilts or something but most of the time we just bring whatever we want to work on. It is a great time cause everyone helps everyone else with color selections, sewing guidelines, etc. I love quilting with my friends!!

A wedding gift I finished last night and gave at church this morning. Sorry, somehow it came out very blue!!! DH fooled with the camera last weekend and turned something on. DS's girlfriend fixed it for me, after I gave this quilt away

Label for wedding gift. It was a UFO. I started it in March and got it sandwiched but couldn't sew for 4 months so got it out labor day weekend to quilt it. Finished sewing on label Sat 9/27

A better picture of patriotic quilt, sorry about last one

Beautiful Quilts!!! The all nighters sound like so much fun!!! And those silly quilt holders, dont you just hate it when they misbehave!!

mary quite contrary 09-28-2008 06:53 PM

Love the quilts. Thanks for sharing. I don't think I could choose a favorite. I have no luck with quilt holders so I lay them out on the bed or floor and consider it good.

So, more pictures? :D

I will have more sometime. It is dark out now and if I tried to take pictures of them on the beds, they wouldn't turn out too well. Quilt holders have all left the house for the college group at church that my DH leads.

They were having too much fun, I was afraid that they would tear the quilt that DD was wrapped up in!! There was a little tickling going on behind the quilts. DD is home from college for the weekend because she has a Dr apt at UCLA tomorrow. She has suffered from headaches for years.

Thank you!!!

Yea, I dragged my feet for 5 years while my friends tried to get me to quilt with them. I was content to work on my cross stitch and my crafts. DH made the mistake of telling me I should try quilting. I wonder if he regrets it now? I certainly have the fabric buying and collecting down!!!

Harmony 09-28-2008 07:09 PM

Wow, you have been a busy girl! All your quilts are gorgeous! Love the label for the wedding quilt--someday I'll get a machine that does embroidery. You've sure done a lot of all-night quilts--do you ever sleep???? My rule of thumb is that nothing good ever happens after midnight--especially if I have to work the next day!

ScubaK 09-28-2008 07:10 PM

Those are all beutiful quilts...
Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I make it all night!!! It's funny, but for about 5 of the 12 years I participated in the all night part I was the youngest person who made it all night. We would do this on a Friday night and would go out to breakfast afterwards, and then go home and sleep. Starting Feb 07, they (I had just had surgery to remove an ovary and was not there to be in on the decision making) decided not to do all nighters any more. We get together from 5-11 on Friday night and again 9-3 on Saturday in the music room at church The first 4 years I cross-stitched all night. That got hard at 3 in the morning on 22 count linen fabric, I would not be able too see to well any more, but I can feed fabric into a sewing machine much easier at that time

This quilt was because I got carried away making my daughters and collecting the fabs that I made another queen size, it's on my bed. I still have about 80 blocks left. I am going to make a valance and put it with the quilt in my DD's room

This is the quilt I made for DD 1 for her going away to college in 2000. I made 2 of each size pillow to match Pattern is Buckeye Beauty She will take this quilt with her to her home when she returns from Iraq next Fall

Oh, one of them didn't come through, so a couple more

Another Mystery, wall hanging size.

Yet another Mystery, also a wall hanging. You can tell I have chosen not to hang it and it has been folded for a long time!!!

This was a mystery that my DH saw in a shop in Orange county and really liked. So I presented this mystery to our group. It is a queen size as well

Thanks, these were done over several years. Though I have given away about 5 times this many!

reneebobby 09-30-2008 02:43 AM

Wow those are all really nice and you seem to love all nighters. Good for you keep them coming please.

Chele 09-30-2008 08:46 AM

What a wonderful one-woman quilt show! You do beautiful work. Thanks for sharing!

Quilt4u 09-30-2008 09:39 AM

Beautiful quilts.

GailG 10-03-2008 03:50 AM

When I saw the picture of the great rag quilt, I just had to stop and ask: The block is interesting. Is it a pattern, or is it a certain number of blocks that fit in any order to form the block? I love it. It gives a good scrappy look, yet there is order to the "madness." All of the quilts are great. You REALLY jumped in with both feet !! You inspire me.

Jim's Gem 10-03-2008 09:37 AM

Gail, it is basically a "T" block. The pattern I used, which was another one of our "group" quilts, (as in a bunch of all used the same pattern) is called "Lazy Daisy" A Raggy-T Patch Quilt. I just decided not to applique the lazy daisy's onto it. The finished block size is 15"

sewnsewer2 10-03-2008 10:54 AM

Did ya see me drooling again? Every one of them is just beautiful!!

Jim's Gem 10-03-2008 10:56 AM

Thank You! I have gotten lots of inspiration from all of you here on the board the last couple of months.

nancee 10-03-2008 11:43 AM

Love them all, they are beautiful....

Thank you for sharing. What great quilts you have made. Your family looks so happy. Quilters make great mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, in-laws, friends and of course, quilts made with love. You look like a real quilter.
