very cute

Wow, love the fabrics in the beautiful butterfly quilt. Your Christmas tree turned out really nice too, interesting design - is it appliqued?

quilt3311 12-04-2010 05:09 PM

The pieces on the tree are just two layers of tear drop shape fabric stitched together and then turned and pressed. Then tacked into place using Liquid Stitch. That's the glue you use to tack up your hem when you don't have time to stitch it. the dots are hot glue crystals.

Love them both. The colors in the butterfly quilt are beautiful and the tree is so unusual. Nice work.

Too cute...! I was wondering where you found the pattern for the Butterflies? A friend of mine loves Butterfiles, and I bet she would love this pattern.

Love the cute butterfly quilt!

The butterfly is my pattern. Its basically a 4 patch. the butterfly body is 1 1/2" black squares with 1 1/2" strips added to one side of the first one, then a 3 1/2" square with a 1 1/2" strip added, the same on the bottom side of the butterfly. The wings are a 4 1/2" square of batik with a diagonally folded 4 1/2" white square which is sewn into the seam. then the folded edge turned back and stitched over the batik to make it look curved. (machine buttonhole stitch) I hope that is clear enough to follow. Anyone is welcome to use the pattern. Oh yes, antenna are stitched on with embroidery.

Thank-you so much for your instruction on the quilt, I am e-mailing them to my friend and I'm sure she'll be able to figure it out.
