Pieced Jacket

<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:OfficeDocumentSettings> <o:AllowPNG/> </o:OfficeDocumentSettings> </xml><![endif]--> I haven’t had a lot of time to sew lately, but I thought I’d post some pictures of a pieced jacket that I completed.

This one is made from a quilt kit I bought from Keepsake Quilting plus some of my own fabrics. The pattern is called Coconut Chips. It’s a really easy pattern that lends itself well to beginning quilters and wearable art. I was really happy with the result.

I take it, you made the quilting pattern and then cut it out in the shape of your jacket pattern. That is truly ingenious!!

Great job. It looks great. Very inspirational!

Thanks. Actually, what I did was piece the blocks and then put them together to fit onto pieces of base fabric.In this case I used a beige crepe that I found in my stash from many years ago. Then I fasten them on the base fabric using stitch and flip. It elliminates having to have a flannel fabric as a base so there is one less layer of fabric. I live in Houston. I don't need any extra layers. lol

Lovely jacket. What do you do at the armholes for finishing the seam? Link did not explain that. Did you use any batting and if so what kind? Did you stitch any of the pieced areas?
