I made this this afternoon for my granddaughter. It is a size 4T and I used a pattern, but I used a pillowcase instead of reg. fabric.
I've tried making the other pillowcase dresses that are gathered across the top and they didn't turn out as well. So for this one I laid the pattern pieces on the pillowcase and cut down to the ruffle, but didn't cut the ruffle apart. So the front and back were attached at the ruffle. I used the serger to sew it together. I used little white flower buttons at the top. flower button |
That is adorable. You did a great job and what a clever idea.

So cute. I think I will have to put this on my to do list.

That is so cute. I think those dresses are adorable. If I ever get back to my sewing room, I'd like to make some for my little nieces, while they can still fit into a pillowcase. LOL

This is so adorable - Love it! I have a pattern for the other style with the gathered top but this is a classic style with the two straps and buttons! She will look so cute in it!

adorable dress!! Just right for a little girl. I actually used those same buttons for my granddaughter's dress when she was about 6.

Wow that is pretty--who would ever think it was originally a pillow case.
