This is a Bonnie Hunter pattern made with scrap 2" strips. My sister fell in love with it and wants to hang it in her new living room. She didn't want the "frame" look that binding a quilt creates. So I faced this quilt, a new technique for me. Now the blocks just run off the edge of the quilt. I'm really pleased with the result.

beautifully done

The pattern does seem to "stop" at the edges.
Nice!

Very pretty piece of art work for your sister. Nice job. I was wondering the overall size?

I went to her website and looked at the pattern - I like yours so much better! And it looks so different in her rendition than yours!

Here is another version of the same pattern. I used it as an over sized baby quilt a few years ago. The little guy was nearly two years old when I got to see him, so he got a bigger quilt. This Bonnie Hunter was one of the easier patterns I have done from her collection. The top was completed during part of a week-end retreat and I used a jelly roll rather than 2" strips. .

Hunter's Pineapple Blossom pattern was my 1st scrappy quilt ever. Fell in love with it as I'm a more organized type person so making it scrappy was so out of my comfort zone. Since then I love scrappy. Made another one but in controlled scrappy. Haven't made the pattern in recent years but its one of my favorites. Your's is to die for too. Can understand why your sister fell in love with it.

Here are the 2 I made both went out as gifts for weddings. The last photo shows the quilting pattern I used for both of them. The last photo shows the backside of the red/black/silver. Used red thread and it made the back pop. 1st time using colored thread too and haven't gone back to white thread for quilting since.

Beautiful!
Did you paper piece this?

Lovely! I can see why your sister claimed it for her living room.

That looks so good!

Very pretty quilt and it looks just as pretty without any borders. Your sister will enjoy it so much.

loisf 05-29-2020 12:47 PM

Thanks, everyone, for your kind comments. Answers to a few questions: The quilt finished at 46" x 64". It was not paper-pieced.
Several of the quilts on Bonnie's site had sashing and cornerstones added, so they were a little different. I love her patterns, but sometimes she gets a little too scrappy for my taste, especially with her borders.

Beautiful quilts, Snooze and WMU Teach.
