Beautiful :)

Speaker at our guild last night said we should not point out our imperfections when showing off our quilts. You and your granddaughter will both know that you made the quilt because you love her. You were thinking of her when you chose the fabric and all the time you were sewing. The speaker called quilts "the extension of a hug." And by the way, it's a beautiful quilt!

I think it looks terrific. Very hip.

debs 01-10-2012 08:29 AM

It definitely is bright, but I bet she likes it and will get a lot of use out of it!

davis2se 01-10-2012 08:34 AM

I think it is just awesome - beautiful. The colors are amazing together - you did a marvelous job on it. Congratulations.

I like it! I think my 17yo GD would also love it. You did a great job.

cowgirlquilter 01-10-2012 10:22 AM

I think it is absolutely perfect. I just made my oldest granddaughter a pink black and white quilt that to me is a bit wild, but she absolutely LOVES it. I love yours, too!

pjustice63 01-10-2012 10:29 AM

If she likes it your job was accomplished.

cleodaisy 01-10-2012 12:27 PM

She will just love the quilt. I certainly do.

Thanks a bunch :)

Actually, there is no formal pattern. I was looking thru my book "501 Rotary-Cut Quilt Blocks" by Judy Hopkins, trying to find a block I could use with those colors. I found the Square and Star block, and then I just graphed out the pattern on graph paper in the size I wanted the finished quilt to be. The blocks are 12" sq. and the finished quilt is 57" sq.

Thank you all for your generous comments!

cavmom 01-10-2012 03:34 PM

Be glad she only wanted the colours in a quilt! my cousin lived with me while she was in college and she painted the room those colours. It took me 2 coats of tinted primer and 4 coats of paint to cover the lime green wall with a milk chocolate colour.

imdelagarza62 01-11-2012 06:03 AM

I think it is lovely.

luci4 01-11-2012 06:28 AM

She will love it.

gmcsewer 01-11-2012 07:00 AM

Same colors as my 16 yr old DGD. So it must be the hot color combination right now. Beautiful quilt.

deanneellen 01-11-2012 07:02 AM

It looks like a quilt she will love especially if she picked the colors. Good job, Grandma!

Tuxedo Mom 01-11-2012 07:13 AM

It's stunning and I know that my 16 year old DGD would love it.

janedee 01-11-2012 07:32 AM

I think it looks brilliant - very 'out there' isn't it amazing how colours always seem to end up looking good once stitched together

welshgirl 01-11-2012 08:15 AM

That's a lovely quilt for your DGD, you made a very good job of it, love the colours too

feffertim 01-11-2012 08:22 AM

I personally think the sashing makes the blocks stand out more. She is 16 and lime green is the "in" color. Great job!!

#1piecemaker 01-11-2012 10:04 AM

I think she will love it. My screen shows lavender too. But, I can visulize pink.

justflyingin 01-11-2012 10:14 AM

WisWis 01-11-2012 10:32 AM

I'ts lovely-very fresh.

quiltingcurious 01-11-2012 10:45 AM

I think it is electrifyingly beautiful! Very pleasant color combination together, the pink is soft enough to balance the lime green.

sharin'Sharon 01-11-2012 11:05 AM

Even looks good in these 66 year old eyes. Granddaughter will llove it.

Snooks 01-11-2012 01:34 PM

Very nice. I'm sure you DGD loves her new quilt.

KathyKat 01-11-2012 05:06 PM

Love the pattern! I would prefer a lighter shade of green but if she likes it that's all that matters. I've made a couple of quilts that took me out of my comfort zone to please others and actually ended up liking them.

Judith 01-11-2012 07:08 PM

I think it's gorgeous!
