Another batik jelly roll from my friend Meg. This was a good size quilt measuring 98 x 110 or so. I decided to do a panto on it called Flambeau from Willow Leaf. This is the second time I have done a panto. I liked this panto design because it was complex enough to not bore me to tears during the quilting process and it added great texture. I have included a couple of close up shots of quilting for Hocky Rabbit.

It is done with a pantograph commonly called a panto. They are used with a LA machine. They are a preprinted continuous line designs that lay on the table behind the quilt and you follow the design with a laser light. They come in rolls that are usually about 12 to 14 ft long and vary in height from a few inches for shortarm set ups (a DSM mounted on a rack) to fairly tall so you have to ensure your machine throat can accomodate the pattern. I have a 26" throat machine. Many have really nice registration marks so when you go to your new row of quilting you just line up with the registration marks of your previous row and that ensures nice even spacing. They are super easy to do but can be a bit monotonous and boring.
