Stunning!

Can you tell us something about the edge treatment? It does not look like there is a binding there.

Thanks!

I would say it depends a lot of the quality of the batting and the fabric as well. Some poly battings are very easy to hand quilt through like the one I have used here - Tuscany Polyester. But I have also tried others and it was hard. I like the Hobbs 80/20 and it's wonderful for hand quilting, also the Tuscany and Legacy 100% cotton - but I don't like Cottons with a scrim like Warm & Natural. But of course, like many other things, it's a matter of personal choice.

Thanks!

You're right, this is the "Knife Edge", a very traditional way of closing the quilt from UK, especially Wales.

When all the quilting is done all three layers are cut down to one length (I cut to 1 inch width measured from the last row of quilting stitches). In the next step the batting is cut with scissors for 1 more cm or almost 1/2 inch. The backing fabric is now folded around the batting to the inside, the top fabric is also folded to the inside to the same length. Then a line of simple running sitches are sewn very near the folded line and closes the quilt.

I think it fits perfectly for that kind of quilts!

Your QB name is certainly appropriate. Gorgeous hand quilting. Can you share how you finish the very edge of your quilt? It appears to be hand stitched as well. Would also like to see a closer up picture of that particular area. Thanks.
