Nearly 30 years ago, I made a little crocheted turtle for each of my boys. My younger son named his TeeTee, and he still has it. A few weeks ago, his almost 7-year-old daughter sent me an email and asked me to make a fabric turtle like her dad's. I already had an idea for the shell, but it took me a little while to figure out the head and body. This is the result.

Now, DGD's twin brother wants one too.

When my three boys were little, about 40 years ago, I made each one of them a turtle also, very similar to the one you made. They had a lot of fun playing with them. I remember that one of them was named "Mercury". I can't remember the names of the other two.

This is so cute! My 2yr old was sitting on my lap while reading this post and he fell in love with this turtle! Will you post a tut or do you have a pattern you can share as now I need to make at least one of these darling little things?

I'd love a tut or pattern also. I have two granddaughters (1-year olds) and another one the way. What a great gift idea. This is just darling.

I will be glad to share the pattern (crude as it is) with all, although I cannot give you the pattern for the shell. It came from a wall hanging pattern called "Over by the Pond" and is probably copyrighted. However, I can tell you a little about it. The shell is octagonal, about 4.5" across, with each side measuring about 2". It is very much like the "pineapple" block that has been around forever. It is paper pieced, and easy to do.

Give me a little time to get the pattern into a form suitable for posting and I will share. I'm so glad you like it.
